Free Music Review: Excellent - But Where's the Theme Song?

Excellent - But Where's the Theme Song? The work is simply great and my only disappointment with the soundtrack for the show that is does not include the theme song for the show. Gaeta's Lament 'Instrumental is wonderful but I was not too excited about the version with his vocals kicking off the first song - none of the rest have words and I wanted the music - but this is a very minor nit. With 2 CD's and an incredible composer you really get your moneys worth - but why, Oh why, did they not include the series theme song?!?!Free Music Review: Absolutely Incredible

With the Season 3 soundtrack, the extraordinary Bear McCreary busted the door wide open on what could be achieved on a television soundtrack. For Season 4, he walks right through it.
To keep this review brief, I'll simply say that this is an amazing album, both the season soundtrack and the Daybreak disc, that builds upon the themes and motifs that he had established over the course of the series.
This isn't just a great soundtrack, it's a brilliant album.

well, as a true BSG fanatic, i'd say, nothing but the rain. however after listening to the final score from the last chapter of bsg, i honestly hear perfection. i've been an avid collector of film scores since i first could buy a cd. Amongst all the amazing artists out there, what Bear McCreary has done with this album has truly changed the scope in which to judge scores. i look forward to never tiring of listening to this music, and so should you!

There isn't a bad BSG soundtrack from Bear. He has created the soul of this show.
My only complaint about this soundtrack is that the track titles don't have the "from..." which episode it was in like the Season 3 soundtrack. I thought that was a sweet little bonus. I'm always trying to envision the scene that goes with the music while I'm listening.
Best track is definitely Kara Remembers. Just awesome.

I have loved every Battlestar Galactica soundtrack, some more than others, and this one is no exception. Bear McCreary perfectly captures the many moods and flavors of the series. Be warned-a couple pieces may move you to tears. Half the anguish of losing Battlestar Galactica is the loss of Bear McCreary's continued work on the series.
