Free Music Review: ill stir-fry you in my wok!
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm the type of person you could call a hardcore fan of those ol'b-boys of ours.their style has got to be one of the most respectable in the music business today.the thing that keeps me back to the store every few years to buy another album,is the fact that the beastie boys rap off of each other.i cant help it,i love it. hello nasty adds to a long list of great albums over the last decade.i have heard a lot of bad things about this album but the one that takes the cake is that it was too politically correct.all i have to say is,what are you thinking?well i suppose everyone has the right to their own opinion, but sheesh!grow up a little bit!well anyway, with this album comes the fact that the beastie boys are getting older and a little more mature.tho some of us may deny it,the proof is in the pudding. some of the songs such as instant death,i dont know, and picture this are a little differnt then what the meat of the fans are used to.yet the tracks remote control, intergalatic planetary and the negotiation limerick file even out the cd's equilibrium. although i find myself skipping through some of the songs while driving to work, the entire cd is impressively good.i find that it is the second best beastie boy album, next to paul's boutique.i guess im just plain old school huh?well even though those boys of ours are getting older, they are only getting better with time.so to end my reveiw i would reccomend this album to anyone looking for somthing fun and intresting.and keep on listening to the sweet, sweet sounds of mike-d,ad rock and mca.

Free Music Review: THE ILLEST BEASTIE DISC YET!!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

This cd is the best rap cd that i've ever heard!!! I've never heard so much put into an album before! Their beats are phat and funky, and of course fresh! They combine computer beats, with "one dj" who can turn a table better than i've ever seen. Yes, even better than DJ Hurricane, who is a genius as well, but Mix Master Mike is the best that I've ever heard. Mike D, Adrock, and MCA have pushed themselves to the limit on this one. i like every song here, but in my opinion the best song would be, "Body Movin'." Each individual has great lines, and the chourus is cool. the only song that i've gotten a little tired of is, "Intergalactic." That's because of it being overplayed on Mtv, but it's a cool song so I can easily see why they play it so much. This cd is the best I've heard in a long time. I like a lot of other stuff too, such as Tool, and Rage Against the Machine, Ozzy, Bob Dylan, etc... which are all great, but i haven't liked a cd more than Hello Nasty in a few years. The more i listen to it, and learn the lyrics, the more i like it, cuz the B-boys are funny as hell, and just have fun. They're not all, " Yo, yo, yo, smoke a joint, kill a nigga for a cracker." and all of that, they rap about cool things. BUY THIS CD, THE MORE YOU LISTEN TO IT, THE MORE YOU'LL LIKE IT!! BY FAR THE BEST CD OF THIS YEAR, AND THE PAST 5!!! HOPEFULLY A GRAMMY WILL BE WON FOR THEIR EFFORTS, THEY DEFINATLY DESERVE IT!!! THE BEASTIE BOYS ARE AS ILL AS EVER!!!!!! AND ILLER!!!

Free Music Review: HELLO? ..... NASTY? BEASTIE BOYS IN SPACE!
Hit: 5 Stars

Not meant as a follow up to LICENSED TO ILL by any means. PAULS BOUTIQUE was the second album, if you're still not familiar with that one I would recoommend that.
No, this is another NEW BEASTIE adventure on this peice, but an epic peice I must say.
I was fifteen when this came out, and though I liked it then, I didn't fully appreciate it until about last year when 5 BURROUGHS came out.
We all kind of thought this was the last album, and at the time I wanted something that rocked old school. I never really wanted the BEASTIE BOYS to get too advanced, and this album is polished and mixed like a modern rap album.
However, don't miss the point, because it is still genuinley BEASTIE, just a little older than the high school punks we used too know.
Hello Nasty blends from every track to the next, the sound virtually never stops, and it skillfully goes from one style to the next without making a seam. I enjoy this now because; well I like fusion, and they've always done fusion, but here its way more complex.
Some of the hip hop tracks are a little weak, (I wouldn't recommend playing Grasshopper Unit for any new comers) but the funky tracks are great, the experimental tracks like I DONT KNOW with the soft vocals or PICTURE THIS with the angelic female vocals (is that a sample or what?).
This is a very cool album, but not PAULS BOUTIQUE cool, its a new definition of cool. NASTY? HELLO?

TODAYS LESSON: G,--E,--T,--L,--I,--V,--E; allright?

Free Music Review: Guaranteed FRESH
Hit: 5 Stars

First, this is not the best Beastie Boys record. That honor would have to go to Check Your Head or Paul's Boutique. Still, Hello Nasty is a great album that sees Mike and the two Adams reach back into the past of hip-hop while continuing to travel in new musical directions.

As far as the hip-hop goes, "Intergalactic" and "Body Movin'" are now part of the classic Beastie Boys canon. But several of the non-singles are also incredible. "The Move" is my favorite of these, with huge SP-12 beats and excellent old-school wordplay, not to mention some hilarious lyrics ("Dogs love me 'cause I'm crazy sniffable!"). The most underrated hip-hop track is "Unite," which combines crazy swirling sounds with lyrics that send out the Beastie Boys' non-violent message while always keeping it humorous ("I don't like to fight, I don't carry a piece, I wear a permanent press so I'm always creased.").

Some of the non-hip-hop took me a little while to get into. Adam and Adam's singing voices aren't the best, but the sincerity they put into the songs they sing on now make those some of my favorites on the album (especially Yauch's songs as well as the last track on the album, Adrock's heartbreaking confession "Instant Death.") I miss the hardcore tracks from Check Your Head and Ill Communication, but that's what Aglio E Olio was for, right?

Bottom line: The straight-out fun of the hip-hop and the musical diversity of the other songs make this a record to listen to over and over. FRESH!!

Free Music Review: A true Beastie masterpiece!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Listening to this CD is like reading a good book of short stories. You can re-read your favorite stories over and over again and they remain awesome, or you can reach out and try a new story and you know that it's going to be another great one. The variety in this CD is astounding, just when you thought you've heard the whole thing, they jump out and suprise you with a 60's inspired tune about anti-sexism,"Song For the Man" sung solo by the King Ad-Rock. Right after, you get a full assault by the classic "Intergalactic" featuring samples, of all things, of Rachmaninof's Prelude in C sharp minor. As you sink back into the traditional old school/punk Beastie beat they throw another card on the table with the smooth "I Don't Know", sung sweetly by MCA.(!!) The Beasties certainly have learned how to share, as Hello Nasty includes guest appearances by Mixmaster Mike and Lee "Scratch" Perry, the Jamaican man. The CD leaves you o! n a thoughtful note with a touching song, sung once again by the beastiest, and mellowist of the Boys, Adam Horovitz (aka. Ad-Rock). It is a moving piece about the loss of both his mother and best friend. Hello Nasty is a masterpiece that shows that not only have the boys grown and matured, they also have held on to their bratty "fight for your right to party" image that their loyal fans have grown to love.
