Free Music Notes for Hello Nasty

Free Music Review: Review
Hit: 5 Stars

I thought this first, too, and it made me upset and angry with all the hype, but more with the Beastie Boys for letting me down. But just as I did with the Beasties' punk and instrumentals and punk numbers that I disliked at first, I am falling in love with this album. Many of the songs that I hated at first are the ones I play most. This happened with Paul's Boutique, too, when I first got it. The only songs that I liked were "Johnny Ryall," "The Sounds of Science," and "Hey Ladies." I absolutely hated "High Plains Drifter" and "Car Thief." Now these are two of my favorite songs on the album, and I enjoy and appreciate every song. If you are a true Beastie Boys fan, you'll give this album a chance and keep listening to it. There's no way that you could still dislike it.

Free Music Review: The Beasties have lost none of their creativity.
Hit: 5 Stars

Practically every review that I read talks about "Hello Nasty" as if it were "Paul's Boutique Part II." Don't believe it. Don't get me wrong, I loved Boutique, but this is something different. Lyrically, it's a lot of the old school B-boys, no question, but they've managed to elevate the music within their songs up yet another notch. The Boutique-esque rap tracks are also accompanied by some terrific "Ill Communication-ish" instrumental tracks... and they've also thrown us some completely new treats (whoever thought that the Beastie Boys could produce a successful accoustic piece?! THAT was a pleasant surprise). All in all, it's a great album that you'll want to play a lot. Trust me: the Beasties have lost NONE of their innovation. They're as strong as ever with Hello Nasty.

Free Music Review: One of the beastie's best
Hit: 5 Stars

I remember getting into the beastie boys in seventh grade. We would sneak a radio into school and listen to "licensed to ill" during recess while playing basketball. Nothing was quite like the Beastie Boys. 11 years later the Beastie Boys are still around and I would have to say that "Hello Nasty" ranks right up there with their other best album, "Paul's boutique." There are 22 amazing tracks that range greatly in variety. It's awesome from start to finish. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to escape from the real world for a while and get away from boring music. The best tracks are all of them, but especially "Negotiation Limerick File", "Unite" and "Puttin' Shame In Your Game." Buy it now!

Free Music Review: The most creative album in a long time...
Hit: 5 Stars

My initial nit-picks are the same that I had w/ Ill Communication, a little too much distortion. It's so rich w/ samples and effects that sometimes you can't hear what's going on. It actually reminds me of Beck's "Odelay". But the more I listen, the more my head is rockin' the beat, and I'm desperate to sing along. If that track "Intergalactic" doesn't kick ass, I don't know what does! Ahh yeah y'all! They're really way into the sci fi sounds w/ the keyboards, and no hardcore songs to be heard at all (but a funky/ weird reggae track near the end.) All and all, fantastic "pass the mic" b-boy style throughout, and so many new sounds to keep me busy all summer. Finally an album to be excited about. Music lately sucks.
