Free Music Notes for Momento (Dig)Free Music Review: beautiful fluff Hit: 3 Stars
You would think that such 5-star ratings by obvious fans would indicate a classic recording, but they are too generous and insufficiently critical. Yes, the sound engineering is excellent and the sultry mood is perfectly achieved. Compared to her outstanding ground-breaking first recording and her second more mellow follow-up, however, this recording is actually third rate: good but certainly inferior to her earlier releases. The first two tracks are throw-aways; their production seems solely to set a mood. The inclusion of an American standard, here Cole Porter's Night and Day, has become a Brazilian cliche in song selection. While her supporting musicians are fine, the arrangements are not particularly interesting. My review will receive many nay votes in helpfulness, but if you do consider the relativity of this CD with her previous works, you should be disappointed. The Amazon editor casts this recording as good background music for a brunch. I would prefer a recording for more serious listening.
Free Music Review: Losing Momentum? Hit: 3 Stars
Reminiscent of Astrud's "It Might As Well Be Spring," Momento slides through the diary entries of Bebel's life, with a lack luster effect, unmatching the energy found within Tanto Tempo. This having been said, I shall have to say that I nonetheless enjoyed Momento, and reserve this album for that special occasion wherein I seek this special space, which only Bebel can create for me. You know, when you throw some classical music on to do some serious writing or study, well, Momento has its own relation, to each and their own. It will be well enjoyed and find a warm place within your heat. Bebel, muita obrigado for these most soothing tracks. Beijos...

Free Music Review: Soothing and wonderful Hit: 3 Stars
Bebel has such a soothing and beautiful voice, this is a great CD to put on and let it be. Weather listening or simply background music.
As a Brazilian/American I partucularly like the fact that she mends Portuguese/English in her songs, it is nice to hear Brazilian music in English.
It is a great CD, nothing out of the ordinary as far as being a 5 star but better than average.
If you are new to Bebel Id recommend "Tanto Tempo" as your first.
Free Music Review: Sleep-Walking with Bebel Hit: 3 Stars
As seductive as Bebel can be, with her voice as well as the music, this time she seems to be sleep-walking through the process. The compositions lack focus and the quality hooks we've come to expect. The sonic textures are all there, but without a home. Listenable background music, but not much more than that. Although there's always hope for the next release...
Free Music Review: Bueno... Hit: 3 Stars
