Free Music Notes for One

Free Music Review: The Bee Gees' last cutting-edge release.
Hit: 4 Stars

Completely different from their throbbing, adrenaline-filled disco albums, "One" gives the Brothers Gibb a melodic Europop sheen.

If you're only familiar with the title track, it's actually the album's most simplistic song, with only three notes (do, re and mi) in the chorus. There's a lot more to savor, like "Bodyguard." Arguably Robin Gibb's sweetest and clearest vocal performance ever captured on record, the lush ballad is one of their all-time greats. And just when you think the song is over, it hits you with a stunning, harmony-filled coda.

Another great ballad is "Tears." Despite its languid tempo, it draws you in with more great harmonies, shimmering electronica and some of Barry Gibb's most relaxed non-falsetto lead singing. Other highlights include the atmospheric, sleek techno-pop of "House of Shame" and "Flesh and Blood."

After 1989, the Bee Gees were less successful at updating their sound and regaining the energy of their salad days. But the commercial and creative success of "One" proved there was life after disco.

Free Music Review: ONE is a FOUR **** STARS !
Hit: 4 Stars

This CD should have obtained more radio airplay than it did upon it's initial release. The title track "ONE" is pure BEE GEE dance music at it's best.
If you like the BEE GEES vocals and admire their talent to compose great hooks in their songs, then treat yourself to this hidden gem.

Free Music Review: Not A Bad Album!
Hit: 4 Stars

While not quite as good as their classic 60s/70s work,or Still Waters,it's still got its share of fine moments, like the brilliant title song,Ordinary Lives,Bodyguard, and the touching tribute to their late brother Andy,Wish You Were Here. All in all,a nice entry in the Bee Gees catalog!

Free Music Review: A Fine One
Hit: 4 Stars

It may not be the '60s, but there are lots of great Bee Gees harmonies, and superb hooks. One is definetly representative of its time with the layered production sounds of the late '80s and is a must for any real Bee Gees fan. If you like the Bee Gees you'll like One.

The entire album, used, seemed to be my only option in getting this music as it's not available on iTunes. Great album, great music. I'm confused as to why the album isn't available in the US market. Some of these songs were big hits... Still, very satisfied with it.
