Free Music Notes for Saturday Night Fever: The Original Movie Sound Track

Free Music Review: The Soundtrack For A Movie And A Generation
Hit: 5 Stars

I was in 7th grade when this movie/soundtrack came out. Well, it took off like a barn fire! And even now as I write this in the spring of 2004, I can still remember the feeling of going to my junior high dances and hearing these songs being played in the gym room. Originally this soundtrack was on two vinyl albums. I can still see that cream colored label with that red RSO steer on it. But now, the whole soundtrack is on one CD. I have one of the first releases of this CD and it's on two discs. I'm thinking about buying this just so I have it all on one CD. So, if you long for the days of when music was just a lot of fun to crank up and sing along with, get this soundtrack and let the memories begin!

Free Music Review: "Saturday Night Fever Forever"
Hit: 5 Stars

The Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack is one of the best soundtracks in movie history. Its a must have for die-hard fans of the disco craze, the white polyester suit and the bee gees. This is one of those things were the music is just as important as the movie itself. Every song on this soundtrack will keep you dancin' all saturday night! And songs like "Night Fever", "Staying Alive" and "You Should Be Dancin'" will get you off your feet and start strutin' your stuff! There's also softer songs like "More Than A Woman" and "If I Can't Have You", but even these ballads keep you on your toes! So if your a fan of disco, the "white suit" or a john travolta wannbe, than this cd is for you!

Free Music Review: Disco rules!
Hit: 5 Stars

Having lived in Chicago during the "disco sucks" era, I had to hide my Saturday Night Fever album for a while. Disco never sucked, especially when The Bee Gees did it. This is a really great album. It's even better than the film itself, which is pretty good. The songs here are all good, with kudos going to The Bee Gees especially, Calpyso Breakdown, Boogie Shoes, and Disco Inferno. The Bee Gees were very popular before this album, so lopping them in with the rest of the disco crowd was unfair. Disco never did suck, just Steve Dahl and Gary Meier (the 2 Chicago DJ's who orchestrated the disco sucks thing).

Free Music Review: 6 stars! For DAILY listening!
Hit: 5 Stars

Without doubt, this one deserves the highest, most unashamedly sentimental accolades.

Trawling throught the list of Amazon reviews (41 pre mine) one is struck by the consistently exuberant praise SNF gets from all - from Nigeria to Canada to the US of A, and now from this South African globetrotter.

Pure, unadulterated excellence from top to bottom. And the David Shire tracks deserve as much, perhaps more praise than the rest. Night of Disco Mountain - I say this without shame - ranks in my mind as a flawless, timeless musical jewel. (Kudos to Mussorgsky too!)

A force for human upliftment. Essential to life itself!

I could go on. Just BUY IT!

Free Music Review: Everybody get down!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is undoubtably one of the best soundtracks ever released. Ten of the 17 songs here were hits, including seven #1 hits. Of course, only about half the music here was specifically recorded for the movie. Specifically, the first four Bee Gees songs, the Yvonne Elliman song, the Tavares song and the instrumental score by David Shire were especially recorded for the film. The rest of the songs are a year or two older, and some of them had already been hits long before the movie came out. Of course, none of that detracts from the quality of the album. It's really fun to listen to, unless you're one of those people who insist that "disco sucks".
