The composition itself is simply "charming"; not flippant, but lighthearted in nature. The 25-minute 1st movement is not in the least bit tiring with rich, buttery playing from Itzhak. Conduction is transparent (in a good way), and exchanges with Itzhak seamlessly.

The final rondo movement is especially playful. About 2/3 of the way through he plucks at the strings, almost to alert the listener that the movement is nearly zipping past: like a friendly tap on the shoulder asking the listener to join the dance.

The recording quality and engineering is flawless: it's a rare combination of a brilliant composition, a wonderful performance, and an exceptional recording. It *is* Beethoven's only violin concerto... possibly because there is not a single misplaced note.
