In the same musical ground where most yell onto the microphone to get their point across to rap about their *itches and ho*s, Belanova takes a much sweeter aproach to convince you that life is what you want to see. 'Rosa Pastel' being the perfect example with it's inovative style of writing for latin music, which is based in a male domination of women, and how the later must build their minds around their mate. "I wanted to be, the mother of your children, and together walk towards the altar (directly towards death). In the end, we both destroyed ourselves (In the end, how about it?) "We" don't even exist." Belanova takes bitter words and turns them into a beautiful thing to learn from, instead of a loud uncredited rant.
As far as the 'Dulce Beat', or the music itself... It's delicious from start to finish. Harsh synths turn into thriving bass just as they give cue to the 98-120 Bpm to start; all topped with dreamy, almost loungy female vocals. I heard a couple of their new songs when I went to a couple of clubs in Dallas (Habana's & Minc) and I immediately recognized them, once I bought the disc I found out the songs were "Me Pregunto" and "Te Quedas O Te Vas" respectively. The way the disc stacks one great song after the other reflects not just their newly found musical maturity but also their triumphant release disregarding the much feared sophmore curse. Overall, the veredict is this: An instant classic for World, Electronica, Latin and Mexican records.
