Free Music Notes for Over The Hedge

Free Music Review: Great Movie, Great Soundtrack, Great Album!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a great album that not only fans of the movie or fans of Ben Folds but anyone that comes across it would enjoy. When watching the movie (which has an excellent package of features on DVD by the way) I just had to keep watching the credits as I realised Ben Folds has rewritten his great song Rockin' the Suburbs. From that moment I knew I had to obtain that song but that by no means is the only great song on this album. Lost in the Supermarket, Heist, Still and Family or Me are all sensational. The classical style musical scores by Rupert Gregson-Williams are also a pleasure to listen to and will bring back memories of scenes in the film every time they play.

My only criticism of the album is that it could have included a few sound bites from the movie like RJ's comments about humans as five/ten second tracks like a lot of other soundtracks, especially children's movie albums do. The album is still a must buy without the sound bites it just would have been even better if they were here as well.

Free Music Review: More than just Ben Folds
Hit: 5 Stars

Over the Hedge sountrack, most people who like Ben Folds likely already have this. And if they are anything like me they've played all of the Ben Folds tracks over and over and have listened to none of the rest. Which is unfortunate becasue the rest is just as strong as Folds' tracks. Tracks like "Let's Call it Steve" and "Play?" come to mind with "Hammy Time" taking the lead. Rupert Gregson-Williams' peices are great to listen to, so if you need more that just "It's got Ben Folds" to convince you, Gregson-Willams' tracks fill out the album with superb orchestrated peices that are fun to listen to and make this the best soundtrack CD I've heard, which, granted, I haven't heard alot.

Free Music Review: Ben Folds for kids!
Hit: 5 Stars

I bought this CD as a Christmas gift for my friend's kids (ages 6 & 4). Both my friend and I are big Ben Folds fans but a lot of his songs aren't kid friendly. His kids have started to like what they've heard from Ben Folds and have been requesting his songs when they get into the car with him. So he ends having to sing 'alternate' words loudly over top the actual lyrics, like in Rockin' The Suburbs... "Better watch out because I'm gonna say Duck". The kids tend to request that song over and over. So this CD was perfect for kids and parents that like Ben Folds.

Free Music Review: It's like a Ben Folds cd......but with a cute dreamworks cover!
Hit: 5 Stars

I loved the movie, the the whole back story was awesome. I hate suburban sprawl and when re-watching the movie I noticed Ben Folds doing most (all it turns out) of the music. He is an obvious choice as he has the same views on suburbanization and the like so it was a good fit. Being that I own all his other albums and needed something new to listen to this was a no brainer. The soundtrack has a few new songs and a few old ones re-written for the movie and is definitely worth it.
