Free Music Review: Ben at his best

I was a big Ben Folds Five fan and was upset that they had parted ways; that is until I bought this album. Right from the get go he keeps the energy up. I liked most of the songs EVEN BETTER than the studio versions. I could listen to this all day and not get sick of it. If you like Ben Folds or Ben Folds Five, this is a must have. Standout tracks Emeline and Fred Jones Part 2 (with John McCrea from Cake doing the harmonies). Also, the DVD is very cool. If you've never seen Ben play live then you are in for a treat with Song for the Dumped.

i bought this shortly after seeing him play live in davenport, ia, where i live. we weren't seated that close, so i couldn't really see him that well. had the same problem when i saw him in iowa city awhile back, when he was first starting his solo tour. though i wasn't up close, seeing ben in concert is a great experience for anyone who's a fan. i even brought my mom, and though she was probably THE oldest person there, she loved the show.so, back to the cd. i'm not a big fan of live cds. i would much rather have the edited, clean stuff. but i wanted the bonus dvd, and also make it a policy to have every cd ben's released, so i bought this. the cd is good; again, not a big fan of live stuff on cd/dvd, and the dvd is good for only one reason: to actually see ben up close. it's really not that interesting, but i'm glad i bought it. it's a must have for any big fan, but if you only like ben a little and think he's cool 'cause you heard that one song on the radio about a brick, save your money.

I was stunned when I heard this cd for the first time. Stunned. I've always like Ben Folds but I've never seen him live, so I suppose that's why I'm so shocked at how incredible this cd is. When he splits the audience in half for the horn section for "Army", and the chorus on "Not The Same", I felt chills. I love crowd participation at live shows, I've never heard it like this. It's like they're all making music together which makes you feel like you're part of the experience when you listen to it. This CD has to be one of the best live CDs ever! I bought this CD knowing i already love Ben Folds but I mean he just goes crazy on the piano and it's just soooo awesome. And you can hear him with the audience and it just sends shivers down your spine. My Ben Folds Live CD even came with a free dvd of him in concert! This is a definite must have and i recommend it to anyone! Ben Folds rocks!
