Free Music Notes for Way to NormalFree Music Review: Buy it just for Cologne Hit: 5 Stars
If you bother to look at my other Amazon reviews you might wonder why I always give CDs five stars. The truth is though that I have a rule I follow that I only review CDs I can give five stars to. There aren't many, but this is one of them. It is solid throughout with Folds' characteristic wit, great piano playing and vivid tunes.
But the song "Cologne" is so extraordinary in every way that its presence alone earns this CD five stars. I never thought he could top The Luckiest, but I think he did with this tune about the end of a relationship. A genuine masterpiece. To my ears, it is one of the greatest songs ever written.
Free Music Review: Refreshing Hit: 5 Stars
After listening to Songs for Silverman, which has a more somber, introspective tone, this album is refreshing. It is more in your face then Silverman. It has a similar sound to Supersunnyspeedgraphic. Its tasteful use of strings and synths are quite welcome and add nicely to album. It doesn't sound overproduced and that is nice to hear in world where pro tools and pitch correction rules.
Free Music Review: As always, Ben puts out another amazing cd Hit: 5 Stars
As its known, Ben Folds is the best musician out there. Period. This album is absolutely amazing and never disappointing. It is a little different than the rest of his cd's, but different is not bad. I cannot stop listening to it and my girlfriend is getting annoyed, but she can deal.
Also, The [fake] leak of the album online is amazing as well
Thanks Ben
Free Music Review: His Best Work to Date Hit: 5 Stars
Ben Folds steps out from behind the piano to deliver an album with lots of electronic keyboard work. His humor shines in songs like "Effington", "The Frown Song" and "The Bitch Went Nuts". His contemplative side shows in "Cologne" and "Kylie from Connecticut". For a Ben Folds fan the album is a gem and showcases his growth as a composer and musician.
Free Music Review: No less than a stellar album! Hit: 5 Stars
This is the best piano rock album I have ever heard. It's Ben's best work that surpasses Rockin' the Suburbs. I like Ben's music better than Billy Joel, Elton John and the lesser known piano rock band Something Corporate. I can't help but dance or have a smile on my face when I listen to this new album from Ben Folds!
