I just recently got There Will Be a Light as a gift and I absolutely love it. I feel that it will be a classic in the years to come and it is already a classic to me. It has some incredible elements of music that make this so likable. From smokey blues to country to gospel and even acoustic rock, it is a great album that is simple, yet amazing. Ben Harper is a very good musician and the Blind Boys of Alabama are great vocalists and harmonizers. I'm a Christian and love the topics covered in this album, but the music and quality of the songs stand on their own. Highly recommended.Free Music Review: Gospel Music Ben Harper Style

Although i am a huge fan of Ben Harper, I must say i wasn't sure i would like Ben singing gospel music. But on There Will Be A Light, Ben plays gospel music like never before. Most of the songs were written by Ben and are alot like songs from Burn to Shine and Diamonds on the Inside. Picture of Jesus is redone beautifully,and Mother Pray shows off Ben's amazing, underrated voice. I especially like his guitar work on track 2. In conclusion, dont let the gospel tag scare you away. If you like Ben Harper's other music, you will like There Will Be A Light.Free Music Review: wow

Ben Harper, the Road Warrior in the flesh lays down some truly spiritual and inspirational music with some of the greats of the Gospel world. All it took was one listen and I was hooked. Easily the most accessible and easy to listen to of Harper's work. Fans of gospel, country, alternative rock and blues-rock alike should definitely pick this one up. The vocals, especially on "Wicked Man" might even conjure some memories of Little Feat for some. Great album. The world needs more like this one.Free Music Review: Really fresh

I highly admire Ben Harper for sticking to his religious beliefs and roots even though he is a big star nowadays. I am no big gospel fan, infact this is the most I've ever been exposed to it, but I already have taken a kinship to it. All but three songs are Harper originals, and the new version of 'picture of jesus' is really great. If your a ben harper fan - get this cd. If your a gospel/blind boys fan - get this cd. I saw the Blind Boys in concert earlier this year and was blown away by them. I had never been to a show before where EVERYONE was smiling! Not knowing Ben Harper's music personally, but having heard of his critical acclaim, I bought the CD because of the Boys and think Ben Harper's involvement takes them to a higher level. If you like music with passion and intelligence, I would think you would have to like this disc unless you are repulsed by openly Christian references.
