Free Music Review: Live From Mars
Hit: 5 Stars

If you like Ben Harper this is a must-have. He's an excellent musician, especially live, and if you haven't had the privilege of seeing him live this album is the next best thing. My Favorite track on the album has to be "Burn One Down". He also has his famous cover "Sexual Healing". If you haven't even heard Ben Harper you should just investigate him, if you like Jack Johnson or John Mayer, you'll probably enjoy Ben Harper.

Free Music Review: WOW. Ben at his finest!
Hit: 5 Stars

I just listened to this CD all the way through the other night, and i'm really blown away. But what i find hard to believe is that no other reviewer has mentioned my favorite song on the album, Woman in You! The screaming vocalization is amazing! i still can't figure out if it's Ben or someone else, but either way, it's absolutely mind blowing! The rest of CD is excellent, and i'd call it the comprehensive guide to Ben Harper.

Free Music Review: Just Tried It, Loved It
Hit: 5 Stars

I had heard a lot of good things about Ben Harper (many of them from the customer reviews of this album!) and I wanted to give it a try. I'm a fan of slow acoustics, so I picked up "Live from Mars" as my first Harper album, hoping it would live up to its reputation.

It definetely did! Ben is a very talented guitarist and songwriter. He doesn't have the most amazing voice, but the voice he does have works really well with his songs. This is an awesome album to chill out to, definetely give it a try if you're a long time Harper fan but haven't heard any of his live stuff or even if you have never heard of him before. I'm going to try some of his studio albums next, but I can't wait to see him in concert!

Free Music Review: What else would you expect from Ben?
Hit: 5 Stars

Just a glimpse into what it's like to see Ben live!! The whole album rules, but it would be worth double the price of the whole thing for CD 2, the all acoustic solo set. Even if you have all the albums, still buy this because you will see the same songs in a whole new way. Also includes Ben jamming on some covers you won't find on his albums!!

Free Music Review: ELECTRIFYING!
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm a big fan of this brother who makes music that defies catergation and focuses on the song's atucal stucture which explains why his music is so powerful and so moving because this is a man who puts actual time, thought, and real emotion into his music.

Ben's live set "Live From Mars" is just plain electrifying.
Every number just sucks you in and the songs just move...
From the fun,"ganja"-themed "Burn One Down" to the Rahzel-featured rendition of "Steal My Kisses" to the smoldering take on Marvin Gaye's perennial "Sexual Healing",
Ben goes all over the spectrum.Highlighting these numbers is Ben's soulful voice is suited for everything from R&B to honky tonk country to folk-all of which is known to flourish in his music.

All twenty-five songs are I stated before,electricfying!
One reason has to do with the diversity here. From a stirring rendition of "Whole Lotta Love" to the playful "Mama's Got A Girlfriend" to the intense acoustic styling of "Please Bleed":
there are no limits.

But if I had to pick my ultimate favorites on here I'd probably say that "Woman In You"-a song I love to death and the powerful
"I'll Rise/Like A King"-a socially concious medley on which Ben meditates-Tracy Chapman-style.This is my favorite.
Equally moving on the socially consious level is "Excuse Me Mr."
and the "Welcome To The Cruel World".

Man,I could go for days about Mr. Harper, but I'll close by saying that if you real want honest, structed, diverse music,Ben's the man.
