By far, one of the finest albums in the music world today. Ben Harper is unique, interesting, lyrical, and an amazing songwriter. The lyrics and melodies become a part of you. Soothing acoustic tracks such as "Another Lonely Day" and "By My Side" are the perfect songs to sink into. The more upbeat songs such as "Ground on Down," "Gold to Me," and the title track, "Fight for Your Mind" are awesome to jam to. Overall, I don't own a better CD. If you're sick of commercial music, if you want something a little different, or if you just want to listen to one of the best musical artists of this generation, Check out Ben Harper's Fight for Your Mind. How this album managed to slip under the radar during the 90's is beyond my understanding. Oppression, Ground On Down, Another Lonely Day, Gold To Me, Give A Man A Home, Power Of The Gospel, God-Fearing Man: these are some of the most deeply moving and powerful songs ever written! And you just got to love the way Harper works that distinct slide guitar of his throughout. The only real criticism about this album and Harper in general is that he somewhat lacks confidence in his singing ability (something he greatly improved upon on Burn To Shine, another album of his worth getting). No big deal. The quality of the work contained on Fight For Your Mind is more than enough to consider it one of the best albums in recent memory. DON'T END UP SLEEPING ON THIS VASTLY OVERLOOKED CLASSIC!!

Without a doubt one of the most powerful albums i've ever heard.(And let me tell you that I've heard alot. We own over 1,200 CDs.) Sheer poety. His music touches me in a way words can't discribe. My advice, see him live. I mean if you get the chance to see him perform, don't miss it. As soon as you see him live, you'll own all his albums the next day. I promice you will always treasure them like no other album.(I had to replace mine because we burnt it out!) Just buy it. Just as soon as the rest of the world realizes what an amazing artist Ben Harper is, he's going to be huge. I don't care what the "critics" say,(You know who you are.)I, and all other devoted fans(You know who you are)love him and always will.Eternal Positive Vibration

Free Music Review: does it get any better than this?

"wow" is the only word i can use to describe this cd. i have owned it for many years, and it just keeps getting better. my favorite song is impossible to name, because i love them all. there are very rarely discs that you can listen to the whole way through without skipping a song-- this is one of those discs. his voice is a materpiece, his songwriting is incredible, and his guitar playing is like nothing else. you cannot understand the power of it until you've listened to it. ben is also amazing live. i've never seen anything like him-- and i'm psyched to see him again in october. my advice to you-- buy this cd and prepare to be blown away. also- "the will to live" is wonderful, as is "welcome to the cruel world".
