Free Music Notes for Fight for Your Mind

Free Music Review: Several Genres Perfectly Placed on One Disc
Hit: 5 Stars

As most Ben Harper listeners know and more will find out, Harper is a lover of all music and tastefully blends several influences into his own music. This disc is a perfect example! His wonderful talent is complimented by his thoughtful lyrics on this album. From grunge rock to reggae to folk and even a touch of gospel. As many will say, though, this music is taken to a different level when performed live. Some may not fanatically follow Harper, but I have never introduced this disc to anyone and had them dislike it. It can definitely be listened to straight through, with every song being enjoyed.

Free Music Review: One of the finest albums I own!
Hit: 5 Stars

Fight For Your Mind is easily one of the best albums I own in a collection of over 400 CDs. I saw Ben Harper live a couple years ago at HORDE Festival and was pretty impressed but I didn't pick up one of his CDs till recently. I wish I had earlier! From start to finish this is an amazing album. It changes tones many times leaving you to wonder what is coming next. Some of my favorite songs include "Ground On Down," "Another Lonely Day," "Excuse Me Mr.," "Give a Man a Home," and "Power of the Gospel." GET THIS ALBUM! You won't regret it!

Free Music Review: Ben Harper is beautiful
Hit: 5 Stars

I was turned on to Ben Harper about two months ago. I had never even heard of him until a friend of mine, who is a long-time fan, gave the cd to me and told me to listen to it to go to sleep. Now I can't sleep without it. It is so soothing hearing his voice whisper or sing gracefully. The songs are so simple, but they are wonderful. I do not usually listen to this"hippie music", but I don't know how anyone could not enjoy this album. My personal favorites are Another Lonely Day, and By My Side. I am in the process of buying his other albums now. Thanks Brian.

Free Music Review: Godly
Hit: 5 Stars

When I first heard this album, I was completely blown away, and it gets better every time I hear it. Harper plays a Weissenborn guitar with the precision of Leo Kottke, and the intensity of Son House to create one of the most impressive and distinctive styles today, combining rock, blues, folk, reggae, soul, funk, and even gospel. If you aren't moved after listening to God-Fearing Man, check your pulse. You may be dead. For the true Harper experience, though, make sure you catch him live, because as great as this album is, it can't hold a candle to his live show.

Free Music Review: This is the one I hand out.
Hit: 5 Stars

I have all of Ben Harper's records, and I'm eager to share his music with my friends. When I do, this is the album I buy for them. It shows what Ben's capable of, the styles he is able to transcend, his musicianship, his lyricist capabilities, his passion for God. And there's not a weak song on the album. This is not to say that Ben has gone downhill since this album. It's just a perfect, eclectic blend of Ben. If you want to share his music with a friend, start them out here. If you yourself are looking to see what Ben Harper is capable of, this is it.
