Ben Harper live is fantastic. He is so much better live than on any of his studio albums, so to have a live album of his songs is great. This cd is purely amazing, and a must have for any Ben fan, or anyone simply looking for some great music. The first disk is more upbeat, with the Innocent Criminals backing him up, while the second is solo accoustic work. Both discs are terrific, but I do prefer the second. Not fire, not ice is an amazing song, i hadnt heard it before and now it is on repeat! Buy this, you will NOT be dissapointed!Free Music Review: Must Have

A classmate always talked about Ben Harper, so I decided to download a couple of his songs to see what he was about. I didnt really like what I heard but when I borrowed Live From Mars it completely changed my mind. Disc 2 is great and I can listen to it over and over for hours. After hearing the studio versions and live versions I realize that I like Ben much better live. If you havent been impressed by Ben yet buy Live From Mars and you will be. Everyone loves DMB but I think that Ben is much better. I cant wait to catch a concert.Free Music Review: thank jah for ben

Once in a lifetime a musician comes along that can touch your soul -- Ben harper does that. People say he is part Jimi, part Bob Marley, but Ben isn't so easily put in a pigeon hole. the only thing Ben is -- 100% Ben harper. Live from Mars brings you right into the show with him and the fans in attendance do yourself a favor and don't be afraid to buy some Ben Harper music just because he is lumped in with the DMB crowd. This album is a must have for fans or anyone who wants to get a true flavor of Ben Harper in concert. The first disc includes songs played by the whole band. All the songs are great but I am a big fan of Faded into Whole Lotta Love. This cd jams. The bass lines and percussion flow with the the slide guitar so well. The second disc is just Ben playing. It is slow, mostly accustic, but full of emotion. Roses from my friends is great. I would highly suggest this album to anyone. He is a great musician.Free Music Review: must have

I am still waiting to see Ben Harper live, but this has got to be close! He puts so much emotion into these songs, it's like they reach out and touch me. The vocals are amazing!!! Disc 1 has great guitars with an awesome groove in Ground On Down. And disc 2 is an incerdible acoustic experience. Each song has so much energy. Listening is effortless, and with each song you just want more. Lyrics play a big part too. Ben Harper is great, and this album is a must have even if you haven't heard him before!
