Free Music Notes for Best of Bond James BondFree Music Review: Great Bond Music from the many films Hit: 5 Stars
James Bond films are my favorites. It's a shame MTV does not have an special show of all the Bond themes on video.
However, on this music CD you get The James Bond Theme, Goldfinger by Shirley Bassey, Nobody Does It Better by Carly Simon, A View to a Kill by Duran Duran, For your Eyes Only by Sheena Easton, We have all the Time in the World by Louis Armstrong, Live and Let Die by Paul McCartheny & Wings, All Time High by Rita Coolidge, The Living Daylights by A-Ha, License to Kill by Gladys Knight, From Russia with Love by Matt Monro, Thunderball by Tom Jones, You Only Live Twice by Nancy Sinatra, Moonraker by Shirley Bassey, an instrumental of On Her Majesty's Secret Service, The Man with the Golden Gun by Lulu, Diamonds are Forever by Shirley Bassey, Goldeneye by Tina Turner, Tomorrow Never Dies by Sheryl Crow, and The World is Not Enough by Garbage. There are two remixes of Bond music put with the CD. This is all pretty good stuff!
I'm a big fan of half of the songs. So, I love this CD. A typical Bond music fan, like myself, may have paid twice as much to get half of the music. Yes, I like Bond Music that much. Strangely, Madonna's last song isn't on this CD. That does not take from the value.
But this music is great. I never get tired of hearing the music. Some of the songs, such as License to Kill, is fantastic for easy listening.
I'm very happy with the music set. I think any James Bond music fan will be happy, too. Face it, if a Bond film is done right we get to see adventure, high style, and watch a great opening music number.
If an DVD is ever made of the Bond opening numbers you can count on this buyer getting it from Amazon.com.
However, the bottom line is you will enjoy this music if you are a James Bond Music fan.
Five Stars.
Free Music Review: Great Compilation Of The 19 James Bond Movie Themes. Hit: 5 Stars
This collection of all 19 James Bond movie themes is very good. The best one (in my opinion) is the title theme from "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" by John Barry and Orchestra. The others, "You Only Live Twice", "We Have All The Time In The World" (the love ballad from "On Her Majesty's Secret Service") performed by Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong (which I'm developing into a novel; it's still in the planning stages), "Licence To Kill", "The Living Daylights", "A View To A Kill" and the rest of the themes are classic Bond music (including the recent ones: "Goldeneye", "Tomorrow Never Dies" and "The World Is Not Enough," which are very good) Great idea to add those II bonus tracks, "James Bond Theme: Goldeneye: Trailer Version" by current Bond composer David Arnold and "James Bond Theme: Tommorrow Never Dies: Remix" by Moby, which are very good. My II personal favorites are "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" and "We Have All The Time In The World." Check out that film, as well. It's one of the best. Great tracks to one of the greatest Bond movies ever filmed. My only question is: where the hell is the theme song from "Die Another Day" by Madonna, who has a cameo in the film? The other ones that were missing were: "If You Asked Me To" by Patti Labelle, the tender love ballad in "Licence To Kill" sung over the end credits amidst some great wide shots of Mexico and the revamped James Bond Theme used in the climactic tanker chase sequence. Other than that, it was excellent. Total of 21 classic Bond movie themes. Rated E for Easy Listening.
Free Music Review: this is good...really good Hit: 5 Stars
Though not complete, this disc has a wonderful selection of Bond favorites, and it's a treat to have so many of the songs, in their original form, on one disc. Some of the songs and performances may be a little weak or not to everyone's liking, but taken as a whole, it is remarkable how much great music 007 has spawned, from track # 1, the Bond theme from "Dr. No" in 1963, to "Tomorrow Never Dies" in 1997. The highlights for me are: "From Russia With Love", sung by Matt Monro. Monro's rendition is heavenly, and melodically this is my # 1 Bond song. "Thunderball" sung by Tom Jones is a knock-out and "Goldeneye" with Tina Turner is equally strong. Shirley Bassey has the voice I love to hate, and her unique, shrill power is so perfect for "Goldfinger", as well at the two other cuts she sings. "The Living Daylights" by A-HA, "License to Kill" by Gladys Knight, and Sheryl Crow's "Tomorrow Never Dies" are other choice numbers.Bond fans will really appreciate this collection of thirty-three years of innovative "spy tunes". John Barry started it all, and his genius is one of the best things to happen to film music, and continues to be a huge influence. With an informative booklet insert on the films and the songs, the sound is excellent and total time is 61'41.
Free Music Review: NO Bond Fan Should Be Without This Disc! Hit: 5 Stars
I'll just cut to the chase, 007 fans: "The Best Of Bond, James Bond" is a must-own CD. It's got *every single* Bond theme on it, from the first film, 1962's "Dr. No," to the 19th film, 1999's "The World Is Not Enough." ALL original recordings by the original artists are here, such as Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Nancy Sinatra, Paul McCartney, Carly Simon, Sheena Easton, Duran Duran, Tina Turner & Garbage. And no Bond CD would be complete without the legendary "James Bond Theme," featured here in no less than *three* versions: Monty Norman's 1962 original, the 1997 version by Moby, and, making it's CD debut, the "Goldeneye Trailer" version from 1995 that has featured in many 007 trailers since then (including the current trailers for the upcoming 20th Bond film, "Die Another Day"). Not only that, but the CD booklet gives you a brief rundown of Bond's history on the silver screen, film by film. Quite simply, "The Best Of Bond, James Bond" is a CD that no Bond fan should be without. It's also a great testament not only to the longevity of the world's most famous superspy, but also to the power of Bond's music. Buy it. Just buy it. :-)
Free Music Review: THE Best of Bond Hit: 5 Stars
The best of Bond- and it sure is.
All the opening theme songs to most the James Bond movies are here! Great songs performed by some of the best performers, and all are true classics! Of course this collection wouldn't be complete without John Barry's original "James Bond Theme" which is one of the most recognized songs in movie history. As you listen through this entire album, you can truly appreciate the music from each decade and hear how the James Bond songs have evolved over the decades.
My Faves: Both John Barry's works (the Dr.No original and On Her Majesty's Secret Service), For Your Eyes Only, GoldenEye, The Living Daylights, The World is Not Enough, Diamonds are Forever, Nobody Does it Better, Live & Let Die, & A View to a Kill (Being a fan of Duran Duran of course a fave!)
One Downside: Just missed Madonna's "Die Another Day."
Recommended for every Bond fan out there. Even if you're not a Bond fan, I'm sure there is a song or two you may have heard that you liked. Get it!
