Free Music Review: Fantastic Bond Anthology
Hit: 5 Stars

I am familiar with many of the songs on this CD, but I have to agree with another reviewer that the most pleasant surprise of this compilation is WE HAVE ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD by Louis Armstrong. (I saw a Bond feature mentioning that, sadly ironically enough, this was Louis Armstrong's last recording, or at least one of his last - echoing the sad irony of the conclusion of "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" - one of the greatest Bond films ever.) Yet the genuineness of his voice in that wonderful musical arrangement is undeniable. Even the newer songs prove themselves worthy of the Bond legacy, namely, TOMORROW NEVER DIES, THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH, and Tina Turner's GOLDENEYE (Pierce Brosnan - you were a great Bond, and we'll miss you!). Other fantastic tracks include FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, THE SPY WHO LOVED ME, and VIEW TO A KILL (song much better than the film). Let's not forget my all-time favorite, LIVE AND LET DIE, by Paul McCartney & Wings. This CD is one of the very best in my massive collection.

Free Music Review: The Best of Bond... James Bond
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a CD with all the theme songs from Dr. No (1962) through The World Is Not Enough (1999), as well as two alternative versions of the James Bond Theme: one of them by Moby that came from Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), and a previously un-released version from the GoldenEye (1995) trailers. My favorite songs are Licence To Kill (Gladys Knight), The Living Daylights (a-ha), For Your Eyes Only (Sheena Easton), Live And Let Die (Paul McCartney and Wings), You Only Live Twice (Nancy Sinatra), Goldfinger (Shirley Bassey), Nobody Does It Better (Carly Simon, from The Spy Who Loved Me [1977]), the original James Bond Theme (John Barry and Orchestra), the opening credits theme from On Her Majesty's Secret Service (John Barry and Orchestra), A View To A Kill (Duran Duran)\), From Russia With Love (Matt Munro), and the Bond Theme from GoldenEye trailers (by Parodi/Fair). This is a great CD for anybody who likes 007, especially the songs.

Free Music Review: As good as it gets
Hit: 5 Stars

I almost bought the 2 CD 30th Anniversary when I saw the 40th anniversary single CD, which has all the best title songs of James Bond, plus this also has some of the latest that are missing in the 30th anniversary.

A singer for a Bond movie has to sound sexy and mysterious for sure, not just big names in the music. Duran-duran and sheryl crow are not good candidates for a bond song. Cheryl Crow number is awful, it spoiled something so perfect.

The bond theme is spectacular. The best of the bond movies is long gone, especially after Octopussy, the same is not true for the title songs. Golden Eye is a master piece, Tina Turner delivers and infact, in my opinion it is one of the best ever, there is Bono and Edge involved in it.

This CD is my favorite CD of all times. One needs to have a mindset for Bond music, this is not for everyone, just avid bond fans.

Free Music Review: James Bond at his musical best!
Hit: 5 Stars

If you are a fan of the Bond movies and particularly the various musical themes, this CD is a must-have for your collection. Of course, the classic Bond theme is here in its full orchestral glory. Other well-know classics include "Goldfinger" by Shirley Bassey (who actually sings three different Bond themes offered here), "Nobody Does It Better" from Carly Simon, and "Live and Let Die" by Paul McCartney and the Wings. More recent Bond themes have been included as well, from the 80s hits "For Your Eyes Only" by Sheena Easton and "View to a Kill" from Duran Duran to "Golden Eye" (Tina Turner) and "Tomorrow Never Dies" (Sheryl Crow) from the late 90s Bond films. Missing from the most recent Bond movie is Madonna's "Die Another Day," but few will be saddened by this loss. This is a great collection of great music for Bond and non-Bond fans alike.

Free Music Review: Companion to DIE ANOTHER DAY and other stuff
Hit: 5 Stars

THE BEST OF BOND...JAMES BOND is a good companion CD to DIE ANOTHER DAY and a good tribute to James Bond's Fortieth Anniversary to film. It contains 3 versions of the JAMES BOND THEME: the DR. NO soundtrack version, MOBY's version and for the first time the innovative and provocative version heard on the GOLDENEYE trailer. It also contains the main theme from each 007 film and the beautiful and definitive love theme "We Have All the Time in the World" from ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE. My favorite theme song is THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS performed by a-ha that demonstrated a cool detachment that Timothy Dalton brought to the role. I also really like THUNDERBALL performed by Tom Jones, which really typifies the James Bond craze at its pinnacle.
