Free Music Notes for Big Blue BallFree Music Review: Oh Man, This Is Good! Hit: 5 Stars
A friend of mine who writes for Filter magazine sent me a link a few months ago to an article talking about the upcoming release of this album. It sounded interesting, but I wasn't sure I would pick it up right away. My own experiences with world music have been hit and miss.
On a whim, however, I went ahead and ordered it. Man oh man, am I ever glad I did. What a phenomenal album. I'm just finishing up my first full listen from start to finish, and it's been an incredible audible journey. Even after the first listen, I think it's already been elevated to my list of top 15 albums. Maybe even top 10. Highly recommend picking this one up!

I just have one word to describe this album; Brilliant! This album has been one of the best piece in recent years. It's so good to hear awesome musicians from all over the world come together for a fantastic project.
I have been a big fan of PG and Afro Celts for a long time now..So, to hear my favourite artists along with other great musicians from around the world gives me goose bumps. I have been playing this album the most, amongst other music collection I have been listening to, since I bought it a week back.
We need more of these collaborations..
Cheers,

Free Music Review: Your guess is as good as mine Hit: 5 Stars
Any ideas what the differences are between the 2 versions available: ASIN: B0018RKENW and ASIN: B00195FU9Q - aside from price and cover art?
Both are listed as being CDs with the same track and editorial descriptions. Amazon even offers them as a package deal. And what a deal that is!!
Don't bother asking Amazon, as they are clueless and that's where they leave it - after repeatedly witnessing the clerk mentality raised to an art form - instead of trying to get a more definitive answer.
Any reliable help, as opposed to simply more speculation in which we are buried, would be welcomed. Thanks.
Free Music Review: PG comes through again Hit: 5 Stars
I really enjoyed this CD. It's amazing how cohesive the disc is, given all the different time periods it was recorded in. A good idea during one session may not sound as good when you're adding to it 3 years later, but this collection contradicts that theory easily. All the tracks sound superb. I particularly like Whole Thing and the original version of Burn You Up, Burn You down. I have been a Peter Gabriel fan for decades, and I have yet to be let down by one of his releases. This is not totally a Gabriel disc, but there's enough of him on it to warrant adding it to my collection.

"Whole Thing" was being played in some store. I recognized Peter Gabriel and thought that the song was great, so I bought the album. Never imagined the whole album would be so good! I guess the "Big Blue Ball" is planet Earth, and great music is what comes out of it. Papa Wemba vocals and flamenco guitar, Sinead O'Connor and Chinese percussion, a Madagascan rapper, the ethereal "altus silva" (perhaps my favorite) with guitar synths and Papa Wemba's band. Absolutely original world music, out of this world!
