Free Music Notes for RevengeFree Music Review: "July..." Hit: 5 Stars
"Revenge" is Bill Cosby's 1967 comedy record, and is filled with classic tracks about growing up in Philadelphia, his friends as a kid, his daughters, his brothers and the introduction of Fat Albert (who features in "Buck, Buck"). He captures his life pretty well with his stories, and it's funny too. I like the way the album is produced and paced, with themes runnning through the routines (like monsters and being scared, etc) and the steady flow of one routine to the next.
Definitely worth a listen for fans of comedy.
Free Music Review: One of Cosby's best Hit: 5 Stars
This is one of Bill Cosby's early records. We are introduced to Fat Albert and "old wierd" Harold. Bill Cosby talks about life growing up in Philadelphia and being a new father. This CD contains some of Bill Cosby's best routines such as Buck Buck and the Ninth street bridge as well as the tiile track. One of the best parts is when he tries to scare Fat Albert and Fat Albert runs him over running out the biulding "I forgot I was behind him!" This recording is still just as funny as when I first heard it.
Free Music Review: Faster, faster, you fool, you fool! Hit: 5 Stars
This was the first Bill Cosby album I ever heard. It was in my parents' record collection and I used to listen to it all the time when I was a kid. I still think it's one of Bill's funniest albums. The whole thing is funny, but the absolute classic bits are "Revenge", "9th St. Bridge" and "Buck, Buck". By the way, this album was where the characters of Fat Albert and Weird Harold were introduced. Recommended to fans of classic comedy.
Free Music Review: A Big Thumbs Up...WAY Up! Hit: 5 Stars
This is my favorite Cosby recording because it is filled with stories of his childhood. Comedy recordings that are filled with jokes typically don't have a long shelf-life; after all, once you know the punchline, the joke starts to lose its humor. On the other hand, comedy that is based on colorful characters and great stories can be listened to over and over again. And that is exactly what I do...I listen to this CD over and over again. Highly recommended.
Free Music Review: Master storyteller Hit: 5 Stars
Bill Cosby has had a phenomenal career as one of America's best-loved comedians. This collection of his stand-up material from the late 60s shows why. Cosby is a talented storyteller who eschews jokes and one-liners for humorous tales (often drawn, as is the case with this album, from his childhood) full of rich, comic detail. In these routines, he introduces some of his best-known characters, such as Fat Albert and Old Weird Harold.
