Most tribute recordings are remakes with maybe a twist on genre but this one is totally abnormal in that the songs were never recorded,only penned, by the artist. Woody wrote them by the hundreds. His daughter Nora gets an idea and contacts Billy because of his anti-establishment credentials and he gets Wilco and Natalie Merchant and renders these tunes into recordings. Some are fun, some somber but all are beautiful. I really like "California stars". Gonna get my band to do it.
