Free Music Review: New Tracks Worth the Price Alone
Hit: 4 Stars

Though Billy is apparently struggling to strip himself of the conviction that we need to hear yet another reissued version of "Rebel Yell" and "White Wedding" all over again on this second greatest hits package in 7 years, the new singles it includes are better by leaps and bounds than that lame cover of "Don't You Forget About Me" he slapped onto the last hits CD in 2001.

Idol's got a penchant for really terrible covers-if you've somehow managed to survive Charmed Life's "LA Woman" in its entirety without slammin gthe "Stop" button, you already know this. If not, well, I don't blame you. So it is of considerable relief that he stuck to his own guns this time around with a strong new track called "John Wayne," an eerily Cure-ish and radio-ready rock ballad that summons the ghosts of "Eyes Without A Face" and "Blue Highway."

Age isn't something that was supposed to happen to Billy Idol; but that the man is making music as strong as "John Wayne" and 2005's Devil's Playground as he prepares to turn 53 years-old suggests that we may have failed to see past the glitter back in the day to catch a glimpse of the grit. Check him out on tour this summer and come to your own conclusions.

Free Music Review: Not the very best of....
Hit: 4 Stars

I can not give this cd 5 stars because it is missing two great songs: "Adam in Chains" and "Heroine". Granted, they were minor hits but they are two of Billy's best singles - after the height of his popularity. And they were better and bigger than anything off of Devil's Playground" These songs deserved to be included on here, since this is suppose to be "The Very Best of".
With that being said, i think "John Wayne" is excellent and has what it takes to give Billy Idol another hit. It is one of his few songs that really showcases his great vocals. I think he has always been under rated as a great vocalist.
This is a great collection of songs. As I mentioned before, I feel it is incomplete to consider it a very best of. It's pretty much a re release of his last greatest hits package. But well worth picking up just for the DVD. Billy Idol used to rule MTV. Back when they played videos.
If anything, this collection of songs will take you back to a better time, and bring back a lot of fond memories. I know it did for me.
"White Wedding", "Eyes Without A Face", "Sweet Sixteen", "Money Money", "Rebel Yell"---Enough said....

Free Music Review: "Make Me Scream!"
Hit: 4 Stars

The only reason I gave the DVD 4 stars is it didn't include "Scream" and "White Wedding" is still censored. I remember watching W W on MTV when it was 1st released and it had the wedding ring being put on the (Perri's?) finger & drawing blood. Wonder if that was deleted because of the powers that be or if Billy wanted it that way.Did go see Billy on 6/30. Fantastic show! I'm still smiling. Looked great, sounded great and Steve Stevens was just like he had stepped out of one of the videos. Billy really interacted with the crowd, even 50-f*%king-5 me! The sweetest bad-boy out there...I usually don't go see oldy-moldy groups, (can be so disappointing) but Billy hasn't lost an iota of his appeal. In fact he was better then when I saw him in the '80's. Can't wait to see what's next...

Free Music Review: So worth it for CD/DVD combo
Hit: 4 Stars

It is well worth the extra cash to get the CD/DVD version of this release. Billy Idol was just such an amazing visual artist along with musician that having the songs without the videos is just getting half of it. Plus it contains "Cradle Of Love" aka: The Greatest Music Video Of All Time! Every guy out there of a certain age, knows what I mean. I deducted one star only because They decided to omit the video for "Shock to The System" which I remember being really great. It featured Billy morphing into a cyborg. The song is included, but not the video. So many Idol fans like myself loved the Cyberpunk album and it's too bad it seems Billy would rather forget it. Great collection anyhow.

Free Music Review: Billy Idol vidoes
Hit: 4 Stars

There is 13 video clips on this CD/DVD. For example Hot in the City, Rebel yell, Dancing with myself and so on. The video quality on a few of the clips could be better. But I put this down to time when they were recorded back in the early 1980s.
The DVD format is NTSC not PAL, this may or may not be a problem. Other then that there is a good number of his songs on this best of collection.
