Free Music Notes for 2000 Years: Millennium ConcertFree Music Review: Probably the Best and Last of Billy Hit: 5 Stars
What can I say...Billy Joel live is a treat. The songs are really good, and have lots of spirit in them. My favorites are "Big Shot", "Movin' Out", "Summer Highland Falls", "I Go To Extremes", "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant", and many more. "We Didn't Start The Fire" didn't sound as good as the studio version, and "New York State of Mind" wasn't as energetic, either. The best song was "This Night"-it sounded like Billy saying goodbye to the fans...Billy Joel is one of the greatest rock and roll musicians ever. This performance, probably his last in the genre, confirms it.
Free Music Review: The piano man has another classic Hit: 5 Stars
This cd is great! I usually do not enjoy live music because many times the live versions sound too much like the original ones, except the quality is not near as good. This cd is an exception. Every song on this double live cd is a keeper. The mastering of this live recording is excellent, as is the song selection. Many fans were upset by the omission of "Piano Man", but it really does not sound that different than the studio version. Some of the highlights of this cd include "Movin' Out", "Don't Ask Me Why", "Angry Young Man", and "You May Be Right." If you like Billy Joel, You'll love this cd.
Free Music Review: Perhaps A Biased Opinion, 5 Stars
Throughout my life Billy Joel has been my idol, my hero, and my musical mentor. His music has ALWAYS been there for me and when I heard he was performing in New York for New Years, my Millenium plans were set. It was perhaps the greatest night of my life. Now that the show is out on CD, it's like my fondest memories are right here on compact disc. Granted, there were a few songs from the show that didn't make it onto the album - but it's still a phenomenal live performance. I'd highly recommend this album for ANY Billy Joel fan, especially if you were there for the show. Thanks. Best Fishes Always, - Bran
Free Music Review: Billy Is Still Great But... Hit: 5 Stars
This CD is really a great show. It's about time that Billy Joel released a close to complete concert, something he has never done. He is still in fine voice. My only complaint is that one more CD would have completed the show and would not have hurt sales in the least. I would have paid the price for a full concert as opposed to an edited show. The songs that are missing are worth the price of an extra CD. All in all, it's a great CD for any Billy Joel fan. I saw him New Years Eve 1982 at Madison Square Garden and he was incredible back then. He has aged gracefully.
Free Music Review: The Essence of Billy Joel Hit: 5 Stars
Owning everything Billy Joel has ever done, I thought, Do I really need this album? The answer is yes. I've been to 14 of his concerts, even when he was the OPENING ACT for a LOCAL BAND. I'm talking small venues where he really showed his stuff. This album captures all of that. The guy is a true professional and I suggest to anybody who has seen him live, or even the beginning listener to pick up this CD and realize what a true performer he is. What a treat to hear some of the original band members again. A must addition to your collection.
