Free Music Notes for Live at the GreekFree Music Review: Hey hey what can I say? Hit: 5 Stars
I saw these guys when they were in Washington, DC and then I immediately bought this CD. They were amazing and so is this CD. It's an excelent recording of a live concert and portrays their IMMENSE on-stage energy very well. It's really one of the most rediculous things in the world to see these guys on stage. They are so amazing. And if you're saying to yourself, "It's Zeppelin songs, but no singer can do Robert Plant, it would just ruin it." Well acctually I said the samething before I saw them. But on the other hand, YOU'RE WRONG! It's spine chilling to hear the vocals. He has the sound of Robert Plant, and, in case you were wondering, the on-stage persona down cold. JIMMY PAGE OWNS ME!!! Buy CD immediately. You must. If you don't you'll feel the absence of the divine presence and it will pain you.
Free Music Review: ZOSO CROWES Hit: 5 Stars
I saw Zeppelin and have been a Black Crowes fan from their debut album. This is an excellent disc with excellent music. SHAPES OF THINGS and NOBODYS FAULT BUT MINE are my two favorite tracks but every song is great. Jimmy Page is able to play guitar live and recreate the studio sound with the help of Rich Robinson and Audley Freed. The three guitar sound is very heavy and Chris Robinson adds new life to the Zeppelin songs. The drumming of Steve Gorman is also top notch. This is a beautifully recorded album and I listen to it everyday. Many of my friends were not aware this album existed and ordered it immediately after hearing ZOSO CROWES LIVE AT THE GREEK. Let's hope Page and the Crowes do a studio album together. This album blows UNLEDDED and WALKING INTO CLARKSDALE away.
Free Music Review: Great Live CD that lives up to expectations Hit: 5 Stars
"Live at the Greek" captures one of the greatest pairings of a modern rock band with one of its legendary influences. This 2-CD live set was taped at a show from the Summer & Fall 1999 tour of the Black Crowes and the rock-god Jimmy Page. The 14 Led Zeppelin covers will not disappoint any loyal Zeppelin fan, and will excite the younger Black Crowes following. The heart of the album is really the 6 blues covers, the cover of BB King's "Woke Up this Morning" is excellent. As usual Page contributes a whole-hearted performance, and the feuding Robinson brothers sound as good as ever. This is CD is a must have for any Zeppelin or Crowes fan. If you enjoy live music in general, this CD is worth the price of admission.
Free Music Review: Jimmy and the Crows do it right Hit: 5 Stars
An excellent live album that lives up to it's expectations. With the addition of the Black Crow's guitar foundation, Jimmy Page was able to faithfully reproduce several Classic Zep tunes in a live venue. Many cuts from Physical Graffiti are difficult to reproduce live due to the fact that Page used so much over dubbing in the original recordings. A live performance was impossible... until now.The Black Crows add a fresh raw sound that could never be accomplished by any session player attempting to simply back up Page. It was a match made in guitar heaven. Although the recent Page/Plant work is an art work in it's own right, the Page/Crows work was a necessity to express the rich and warm soul that exist in the early Zep Rock/blues work.
Free Music Review: Awesome. Page has not lost his touch. Hit: 5 Stars
Who would believe that this CD was recorded in 1999? Who would guess that in this age of teen pop, rap-metal and lame alternative rock that excellent vintage style rock and roll like this was still being made. Leave it to the Black Crowes, one of the finest "real" rock and roll bands around. Fans of Led Zeppelin should definitely check this out, and fans of the Crowes as well. The Zep tunes sounds so much like the originals that I occasionally forgot that I wasn't listening to Zeppelin. Chris Robinson fills in wonderfully for Robert Plant, Rich Robinson and Audley Freed back up Page exquisitely. This is a great CD for those who are growing weary of today's "rock" scene and dying for a blast from the past.
