Free Music Notes for Ghost of a Rose (Spec)Free Music Review: First CD Review on amazon.... for a reason. Hit: 5 Stars
I've been a follower of the Blackmore camp for since my teen years at the release of Perfect Strangers. I've collected just about the entire DP and Rainbow catalogs since. When I heard The Man In Black was to be releasing something called Shadow of the Moon a few years ago I was actually excited for this departure. Although I did not have any time invested in listening to that genre of music I knew if he was associated with the project it would be interesting. I immensely enjoyed it. Now, this is I guess the fourth studio recording since that groundbreaking CD and I can easily say I continue to be overwhelmed at each listening. I highly recommend this to anyone who thinks they may enjoy vagabond sounds enhanced by the voice of an angel. Candice' voice just keeps getting better, and Ritchie really shows his talents well here.
Free Music Review: This is an AWESOME album Hit: 5 Stars
Well what can I say about this album, it's fabulous and I've never ever in my life listened to any thing like this. I have all blackmore's night album and this one is far more beautiful that any other album. Actually I think it's the best album in 2003 and maybe in the decade. The CD is full of great songs but my favorites are "Way to Mandalay", "Ivory Tower","Ghost of a Rose" and of course the perfect one "Diamonds and Rust".I've bought this CD today and I've been listening to it for more than 8 hours and I just can't stop playing it. I do recommend this for all Blackmore's night and for any one who is interested in knowing their music (medievil/folk).I do recommend Shadow of the Moon and fires at midnight as well. Great one you gotta have it in your collection.
Free Music Review: Spectacular Hit: 5 Stars
This has got to be the best Blackmore's Night CD yet. I am partial toward music with a medieval or renaissance feel, and particularly music with magical and mystical themes, and this album has it all. While the styles vary from the fairy-tale like "Three Crows", to the magical "Way to Mandalay" and "Ivory Tower", to the electrified "All for One", throughout the album there is guitar like only Blackmore can play it, vocals like only Night can sing them, and the blend of intricacy and energy that only Blackmore's Night can perform. The only other thing to say is that the quality of production is superb; as with all Blackmore's Night albums, you hear each instrument clearly, and vocals so crisp you can understand every word. The quality is almost like a live performance. This one is a must have.
Free Music Review: Absolutely beautiful music Hit: 5 Stars
I've been looking for rock/medieval music for a while and had begun to think that there wasn't anything out there other than the odd novelty. So to my extreme happiness (with a little help from Wikipedia, of all places) I came across this CD. I've never been into Deep Purple, and I never even heard of Rainbow, but this Ritchie Blackmore guy is phenomenal. And so is Candice Night. I've seen the word "ethereal" mentioned in a few reviews, and that's the perfect word to describe her voice. Clear, sweet, strong - perfect. This CD (and all the other Blackmore's Night CD's out there that I also bought) has it all - strong rock songs, sweet soft songs, awesome instrumentals. My favorites from this CD are Way to Mandelay, Ghost of a Rose, and All For One.
Free Music Review: By far their best cd!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Ignore the negative reviews. I have every cd put out by Blackmore's Night and this is their very best in terms of musicality, performance (Night's voice has become more assured, more persuasive, and less wispy over the years, without losing any of its lovely tone -- she's become a real storyteller), and overall sophistication. "Mandalay" is without a doubt the finest song of their career -- a brilliant, surging, surprising mix of instruments and unexpected musical turns, and just a plain great melody to drive it all along. Blackmore's guitar playing is always superb, but there are moments of utter transcendence on this cd when his guitar playing is just heartbreaking in its gorgeous virtuosity. I have the cd on repeat, nonstop. Bravo!
