Free Music Notes for Ghost of a Rose (Spec)Free Music Review: Chilling... Hit: 5 Stars
Brilliant. This is Blackmore at his best. His most inspired work to date. "Cartouche", "Loreley" and "All for One" are among his classics. So are "Queen for a Day", "Dandelion Wine", "Way to Mandalay", "3 Black Crows" and the title track. Masterpieces all. One day, this CD (along with the DVD) will be looked back upon as the crowning achievement in the career of Blackmore's Night.
My only negative comment would be to leave off the cheap covers of Joan Baez and Jethro Tull. They pale in comparison to the originals. Particularly on "Rainbow Blues". On the original, Ian sings like his life depends on it. Here, the vocals fall somewhere under the rainbow.

Ghost of a Rose is the fourth album released under Blackmore's Night, and it seems apparent that Ritchie and Candace have now created their own genre apart from pop. The music contained reminds me of 16th century England with a blend of folk, rock and a hint of Gypsy intermingled. This album, though similar to the others, definitely shows a maturity in style and performance. It possibly could be their best effort to date. Simply put, it pleases from the first to the last track. I am looking with aniticipation towards their next venture, and can say with certainty that I will buy it with confidence. There is something here for almost any taste.
Free Music Review: By Far the Best Group These Days Hit: 5 Stars
Good music is easy to come-by ... GREAT music is rare. What an incredible combination of talent Ritchie and Candy have! I've known of Ritchie of years, from his 'rock' days and always respected his talent. But Blackmore's Night is probably one of the most wonderful convergences of talents I've encountered. I wish I could say I listened to Blackmore's Night on purpose, but it was quite by accident. Nonetheless, I was enchanted enough to look into what they had done. I'll never regret it. They are unsurpassed in the music world these days. Candy's voice and lyrics and Ritchie's guitar ... it doesn't get any better!
Free Music Review: Another great musical adventure! Hit: 5 Stars
Please!....DO NOT listen to those negative reviews. They're insane! This cd is a piece of intense magic that very few bands could ever hope to come close to.
The playing, the melodies, the incredible vocals of Candice Night.....all unparalled!
I have everything they've done.....I honestly can't say which cd is best....they're all amazing and should all be considered masterful in the eyes of this genre.
Ritchie is probably THE best guitarist on the planet. He plays with a skill that only angels (or devils.....depending how you look at it) could come close to. DO NOT pass this up!
Free Music Review: Ritchie strikes again. Hit: 5 Stars
Again a well made album from Ritchie Blackmore and Candice Night, at least for those who like the music of Blackmore's Night. Its less rock oriented than their previous CD "Fires at Midnight", but in some songs you cannot fail but to hear his heritage as leag guitarrist of Deep Purple. Now for those of you who find this group by looking for Ritchie Blackmore.. This is NOT hardrock. Its, what I call, Renaissance-Rock/Pop.
