Free Music Review: oh back to 400 years where the minstrels played their tunes!
Hit: 4 Stars

We are going back to 400 years ago, where the minstrel played their tunes!

if you don't know Ritchie Blackmore and his currently semi medieval tunes and pls let him go!!!!
There are too many idiots here who do not recognize that Ritchie will not play the same type of music like he did in the past with Rainbow or DP.
The live set /songs are wonderful to listen to, if you could find the magical moment! I personally love the current style of Ricthie and Candice. I will see them on the next tour in some old german castles.....I love ya Ritchie!

Free Music Review: Renaissance rock from Ritchie Blackmore and Co.
Hit: 4 Stars

This double live album contains an intimate atmosphere from a cool audience which adds to the power of this truly wonderful performance. It's also an excellent sounding live album. You got to love these traveling minstrels. Their live versions are extended and are different from the studio versions. If you haven't heard Blackmore's Night before, "Past Times With Good Company" is a great introduction.

Free Music Review: Get The Studio Recorded CDs
Hit: 3 Stars

I never thought that I'd say that, but with Blackmore's Night, you'd do better to buy the studio recorded albums. Why? This band, while together on stage, lacks the spark of a really talented band. Given Blackmore's history with Deep Purple and Rainbow, I would have expected more from the band as a whole. I like Blackmore's Night; I am just not overly thrilled with this cd.

I've seen Blackmore's Night live, and they do lack a spark on stage. It's quite evident that everyone dances around Blackmore, which is fine, as he is a greatly talented guitarist. However, in doing this, the rest of the band seems like session musicians who merely play the music. These songs don't truly showcase Blackmore's stunning guitar work. His playing seems aloof (both on this cd and live). Candice Night has a pretty but unmemorable voice and the lyrics are merely okay. It's strange to me how listening to them live has really changed my opinion of them. I still really like their studio work, but if I could go back, I probably wouldn't buy this cd.

Free Music Review: Not a Standout
Hit: 3 Stars

The material on this CD resembles the many anonymous bands who haunt Renn Faires, SF conventions, and Pagan festivals. The genre consists of Medieval and spooky-sounding music, often danceable, in a minor key. So if you like that type of thing a lot, this album is for you. Skip this album if you are looking for something that transcends the trite, hackneyed, and commonplace.

Free Music Review: Brilliant musicianship, sophomoric lyrics and commentary
Hit: 3 Stars

Blackmore's brilliant musicianship is poorly reflected in Candice Night's sophomoric lyrics and commentary. This was OK for the first album and has become more obvious, particularly on this release.

Buy this CD for Blackmore's performance but grit your teeth when Candice Night starts talking like an "Oh wow, isn't this great?" tourist.
