Free Music Notes for Shadow of the MoonFree Music Review: better with time Hit: 4 Stars
I bought this album when it first came out and was excited to see Ritchie branch into this type of music. On first listeneing I found it to be overproduced and over polished. I think I was, and still am, looking for a stripped down album with just Ritchie's guitar and Candice's voice, without all the extra instrumentation. Having said that however, I recently listened to this album again, after not hearing it for a good 12 months, and I was suprised how good it sounded. The production is very good, the sounds, vocals and instruments are layered nicely, and except for a couple of songs with sequenced drums, they sound fresh and bright. To me this album has stood the test of time ( 3 years in my books ) and still sounds good. Perhaps not a classic, but still very good work from Ritchie, Candice and the crew.
Free Music Review: Interesting Hit: 4 Stars
I had and really liked BOOK OF TALISYN-and then became a PINK FLOYD fan-and then moved to RENIASSANCE;
Ive always wondered about this, but never heard any-
and then out of curiosity, MP3 of OCEAN GYPSY
I must say the Candice Night does this every bit as good as Annie Haslam in RENAISSANCE
I cringed at Micheal Dunfords "covers" of h is own material with Stephanie Addington-on THE OTHER WOMAN
But Candace has a voice and understanding to do this magical song justice.
Free Music Review: Nice blend - Rock On!!! Hit: 4 Stars
I love hard rock, heavy metal, and allot of the new age music,(some Celtic in nature) this is a very pleasant way to blend the two highly structured music forms together. Yeah, you can hear some quick little guitar riffs here and there. Glad Richie Blackmore and Candace Night got together!!!
I first bought the DVD, and enjoyed so much I have begun collecting the CD's. Hopefully a new DVD is forthcoming!!!
Free Music Review: enchanting voice... Hit: 4 Stars
i got hooked on blackmore's night a few months ago after listening to 'ghost of a rose' and 'fires of midnight'. candice night's voice is simply angelic... dreamy in some songs, light-hearted in others. this album is more upbeat and pop than their earlier releases. i prefer their earlier renaissance tunes, but this is still a good listen. recommended for those who want a dose of of medieval music but enjoys a modern beat.
Free Music Review: Shadow of his former self... Hit: 3 Stars
I have a wide interest in all types of music outside the traditional Rock/Pop/Folk/Jazz/Classical mainstream, but I cannot imagine who would listen to this type of music. It sounds like the rejected soundtrack for "A Night's Tale" or "Princess Bride" . Think Renaissance (sans Annie Haslem) fused with one part Abba and one part WHAM -- only not as somber. Let me put it this way, there's a song about dancing around the Maypole on this CD...
