Free Music Notes for Under a Violet MoonFree Music Review: A new sound and a new beginning Hit: 5 Stars
There are many out there who have expected Ritchie Blackmore's material with Blackmore's Night to be something along the lines of Rainbow or Deep purple, and have been sort of turned off by the whole idea that he is now in a band so different from his past work. But, this is a new band for him. And with a new band comes experimenting with new material, and a whole new group of musicians. Its a new experience, and a chance to express so many other feelings through music. Personally I am a big fan of Blackmore's Night. I own all of their albums, "Under a violet moon" being my all-time favorite. Their music is mystical and capitvating, and it blends the perfect amount of rock with soul soothing melodies. I found their remake of "Self Portrait" to have an amazing touch, and gives a little something extra to the original version. Their live performances are great, they hold very true to what you hear on the albums. I highly recommend this album, and the others, to anyone who likes something just a little bit different. After all, the whole purpose of a new band is to try something new, isn't it? Definitely give it a chance.
Free Music Review: I Still May Think of You Now and Then Hit: 5 Stars
Wow! So we have This medieval reniasacne prog rock thing led by the guitar master Ritchie Blackmore from Deep Purple and this wonderful female vocalist I have never heard of before, Candice Night. A lot of their songs are either influenced or are covers of old reneissance classics. Ritchie does a good job with acoustic guitar and Miss Night does a good job looking beautfiul and singing just as well! Since I'm sort of obsessed with that period histroically it is nice to find a nice rock type band influenced by it! If you want more, I later discovered Aina: The Days of Rising Doom: the Metal Opera in which Candice Night does some vocal work. I would also check out Fires at Midnight and Past Times with Good Company. Very good stuff.
Free Music Review: Very strange, but addictive Hit: 5 Stars
Blackmoore's Night seems to be the smashing toghether of every musical style short of hip hop; though primarily rock, pop and midiæval/renaissance. As one would expect, that makes for a very strange form of music. At first, it seems odd, but after awhile you get used to it. This has quickly become my favourite form of music. The vocals are very lyrical and poetic, much like the music of old, where as the guitar varies from soft acoustics to very loud with a fender. The music has energey throughout (except a few tracks like Beyond the Sunset, which is extremely romantic and peaceful instead). Quite good to begin with, and has definantly grown on me over time.
Free Music Review: A new standard in modern folk renaisance music Hit: 5 Stars
I've been a fan of Richie Blackmore since I returned from my Vietnam combat experience. I have always been 'awed' by his arrangements and how he delivers. There are many musicians with incredible talent out there and I strayed being captivated by Steve Hackett, David Arkenstone and Chris Spheeris. Although, I am still a huge fan of these 3 musicians, in recently being turned on to Blackmmores Night, I have rediscovered my roots with Richie and his current music effort. This CD is the epitamy of the Richie's energy, I like so much and gets far more listening time than the others. However, I listen to all of his CD's a LOT.
Free Music Review: Blackmore's talent shines through yet again! Hit: 5 Stars
Ritchie Blackmore is no doubt the greatest guitarist this world has seen.....from Deep Purple to Rainbow and now with Blackmore's Night. Certainly a far cry from his "Smoke on the Water" days, Ritchie has embraced a medieval feel and produced another showcase of musical abilty and songwriting talent. Candice Night on vocals adds a whole new dimension to the music and sounds terrific throughout. Great album !!!
