Being a fan a Bind Melon for quite sometime I was both scared and excited to hear that they were putting out a new album. Having picked up the band members solo projects from after Shannon's death (Abandon Jalopy, Extra Virgin, and Unified Theory) and liking those, I knew that the music would not be bad at all. Travis does fine job on vocals and no one but Shannon Hoon himself could do a better job...Although I do miss his energy.
If you liked Blind Melon's music before, For My Friends is an outstanding come back.

Funny enough, I found about this new album from doing Google searches for Rain Fur Rent, Travis' former band. I saw them in SLO a few years ago and they became one of my favorite bands. I went online looking for new material, and discovered via his MySpace that Rain Fur Rent has disbanded, but that he's now part of Blind Melon...crazy! Way to go Travis! This guy's insanely talented and down to earth. Best of luck on the new project. You may have made other Blind Melon fans happy, but you made this Rain Fur Rent fan happy.Free Music Review: You can feel BM's magic again...

Like Soup, this album will continue to grow on you. I actually got it Friday at the Dallas stop on Blind Melon's tour and have been listening to it ever since. It gets better with each listen. I have to say, after the show the other night, which was completely amazing, I got to meet the band and talk with them for quiet a while and they are all completely genuine and it really shows in the music. Finally! What a great album, what a great band! The album is smooth and rich, complete and truly sounds like the blind melon i missed so much.
Thow they have something different stirring around in the pot we can again appreciate the true sounds of the melon era!!
There is a song on this album for every year lost, and it's worth it!!!
