Free Music Review: Enema of the State- Blink at their best
Hit: 5 Stars

First off, I will say that I am a diehard music fan in general. I listen to all types of music, not just pop-punk, like Blink 182 so masterfully supplies the music world with. There will always be people out there who waste their time writing terrible reviews in an attempt to inform the public of Blink's faults. Blink 182 is not punk. They are pop-punk, which in case no one has realized, IS a genre of music. These opinions are just that: opinions. They do not make the band bad or any less valuable than others out there. Now I will say that if you are considering buying Emena of the State, I would strongly encourage you to do so. This is by far the best cd, overall, that I have ever purchased. It is the only cd in my entire collection that I listen to completely without skipping songs, which says a lot. All the songs are great and unique and I have not grown tired of any of them, even with the incessant airplay of some of the singles. The lyrics are hilarious at times and the music is wonderful- the guitar playing rocks and Travis does an amazing job on drums. Here is a rundown on all the songs. I hope it may be helpful:

1. Dumpweed- A great opener to the cd. Tom sings of the problems he finds with his girl among other things. Fast paced guitar and drumming.

2.Don't Leave Me- similar to Dumpweed- Mark's first song is about a breakup. A very upbeat song that's fun to sing along to.

3. Aliens Exist- Great song with great lyrics. Underneath the surface of immaturity lies a story of a lack of normality and being misunderstood. Tom does a great job on the vocals.

4. Going Away to College- It took me a while to warm up to this one, but has become one of my absolute favorites. The lyrics are some of the best: Why does it feel the same to fall in love or break it off and if young love is just a game then/ I must have missed the kick-off/

5. What's my age again- One of Blink 182's most popular singles. Amazing guitar- superb playing. Lyrics: I called her mom from a payphone/ I said I was the cops/ and your husband's in jail/ This state looks down on sodomy/ I have heard this one about a zillion times and I am still in love with it.

6. Dysentary Gary- Yet another breakup song but it holds its place on the cd extremely well. Fast and funny.

7. Adam's Song- This is one of my all-time favorite songs. It is the reason I bought the cd in the first place. Adam's song is a display of the guys' serious side and the lyrics are deeper and have a lot of meaning. The music is Blink at their very best. The transition from verse to chorus is extremely well done and accurately portrays the feelings associated with the lyrics. Wonderful song.

8. All the Small Things- One of the funner songs on the cd. It is not one of my favorites-largely due to overplaying, but still a great song. Good to blast with all your friends

9. The Party Song- Another favorite. Fastest song on the album and Mark does an awesome job. Short but sweet.

10. Mutt- Definitely in my top five favorites on the cd. This song is about the disfunctional relationship between a couple. The music is good as usual along with Tom's singing.

11. Wendy Clear- Probably my least favorite but Mark's effort keeps this song playing on my stereo

12. Anthem- Travis' rapid drumming and Tom's vocals put this song near the top of my list. Anthem is really the essence of Blink 182, and a large percentage of all other teens' lives out there. It shows the difficulty of growing up and the feelings of hopelessness and distress.

Free Music Review: Very solid blink album
Hit: 5 Stars

Enema of the State is blink-182's breakthrough 1999 album. It defitlnly put them into heavy mainstream and boosted their populatarity alot. This album is very fun loving and funny and shows a side of mark and tom that is not showed these days. I really enjoy this album because all the music flows and the band were acctually good friends back then. Also the instrumental has improved since some of their earlier albums.
Enema of the state combines catchy pop guitar licks with the soothing voice of mark and the edgy more rough voice of tom and the talented but repeated drum beats of Travis Barker.
Here is the track listing.

1.Dumpweed : A great starting song. As soon as you put on the cd .. BAM theres a blistering note that leads to a catchy lick and follows through with a fast pull-off riff. the chorus is strong and the songs all good. I would rate it as an 10/10.

2.Dont Leave me : a song about not wanting to be left alone. Not much to the instrument but very catchy and a clasisc pop tune. 8/10.

3.Aliens Exist : This songs pretty great . The lyrics acctually make sense and there a point to the song. 7.5/10.

4.Going away to collage : this song is really aweosme. It kind of represents the whole blink-182 sound. it starts clean and follows through with a very simple but thoughtfull guitar riff. Marks voice sounds very clean and smooth but still provides the right feel for the song. The lyrics are kind of sad but the tune is happy and upbeat. 8.5/10.

5. Whats my age again: One of the biggest hit songs on the album. The lyrics are pretty funny. And the instrumental is moderalty challenging complared to other songs. Its about being immiture and getting dumped over but frankly not caring too much. Also the video features the guys running through LA naked. Its sweet.7.5/10.

6.Dysentary Gary : Flippin sweet song!! its starts out with a poppy fast paised lick and mark and toms voice flow very well together . The chorus is steady and very complete. And the bridges are clean and realy cool to lisitn to. Its pretty much about girls being bitches and friends being idiots. 10/10.

7. Adams song : its about suicide. its a more serious song on the album. I like it becuase its a change and fun to play on guitar. It has a nice dark , deep feel to it . 8/10.

8.All the Small things: its probably the most memorable song of blinks but i think its the gayest song on the album. Thats all i have to say. 6/10.

9. The party song : Well its a bout a PARTY!!!!!but its also about finding out about what parties are all about. its a killer song very fast paced and the lyrics are guioness and funny too.
The only problem is the verse doesnt have a very good tune. But the chorus delivers very well. 7/10.

10. Mutt: Featured on the american pie soundtrack. Aweomse song. Bass and drums intro and then the guitar comes in. Its about a couple who are basically sex hounds and its unnecesserary. the lyrics are great. The tune is great. 8/10.

11.Wendy Clear: Defitnly a great song. Marks voice sounds amazing on the verse. And the song has a great feel to it. I dont understand the lyrics but i dont pay attention to them on this song. The harmony on the voice really makes this song effective and catchy. 10/10.

12. Anthem : Great lyircs. Neat Guitar. And Amzing hi hat work by Travis. Its a teenage anthem aboujt hating parents , playing with a band, and what not. 9/10.

Free Music Review: An updated review of Enema of the State
Hit: 5 Stars

A while back I wrote a review of this CD. However, my tastes have changed DRAMATICALLY since then. Plus, I called it punk several times in that review. This isn't punk. But it sure as (***) isn't pop either. This is pop/punk. Punk is like Pennywise, NOFX, Bad Religion, Pulley ect. Not that pop/punk doesn't kick (***) also, cause it certainly does. This is not the best CD ever like I said before. It is however the 3rd best CD, the second best pop/punk CD, and the best Blink182 CD. Here is a track by track listing of the Enema of The State:

1. Dumpweed: Hands down the best song on the CD. It is hard and fast. And reminds me of EXACTLY the reason that I love pop/punk. This song is a brilliant pop/punk masterpiece.

2. Don't leave me: Another pop/punk masterpiece. It is the second best song on the CD. In fact it sounds kind of like the previous song. Except in this one the focus more on speed and drums, and less on the guitar detail. This is Mark's favourite. He says he wrote it but he has no clue what it's about!

3. Aliens Exist: Here the greatness of the CD calms down a bit. However it is still an awesome song. With great lyrics for any Si-Fi fan. A solid song by Enema standards. A great song by music standards.

4. Going away to College: This is the only song on the CD where the acoustic guitar is noticeably present. Well, actually it's not an acoustic guitar. It's an electrical set to sound like an acoustic one. However, this is only in parts of the song. I like this melodic song a lot.

5. What's my Age again: I used to LOVE this song. However, I don't really anymore. It i still a decent song. However, it just isn't punky enough. However, I wouldn't say it is poppy either. It is more like some other weird kind of alternative. Definitely not a pop/punk song.

6. Dysentery Gary: If you are an easily offended girl, then skip this track cause it can be offensive to girls. But if you aren't then jam on to another great song by Blink182.

7. Adam's Song: Another *shudder* radio hit. Doesn't even sound like blink. This is still probably a pop/punk song unlike What's My age again. However, it is much slower. The guitar music is more simple, and cluttered a little during the chorus. I still like it but it should not be a hit.

8. All the Small Things: Definitely the popiest song on the CD. It is a fun song. I like it. However again, the radio is (***) for choosing this as a hit.

9. The Party Song: Now we are back to the KICK (***) blink songs. This is a VERY FAST song. IT's just insanity. even though it is one of the shortest songs on the CD, it has the longest lyrics! A great song.

10. Mutt : This is the worst song on the CD (after the hits) and yet still is a good song! It is much slower, mellower and lighter than other Enema of The State Songs. In fact it sounds very similar to something that would have appeared on the Cheshire Cat CD. Only it is more polished, and SLIGHTLY poppy.

11. Wendy Clear: This song was probably written around the making of Dude Ranch because this song sounds like it could have easily come off of the Dude Ranch CD. Dude Ranch BTW is the 2nd best Blink182 CD.

12. Anthem: This song is definitely the hardest Blink182 song off of any Blink182 CD. It is the 3rd best song on the CD. You can just hear the background music overflowing with rich electrical guitar music. A great way to close the CD.

Free Music Review: This is not as "Punk" as their other albums but it's still great.
Hit: 5 Stars

This is my all time fav Blink album. It's just so good.It has a diffrent sound to it then the other albums.Tom and Mark both have an even amount in songs that they sing.

Tom:Dumpweed,Aliens Exist,Dysentery Gary,All the Small Things,Mutt, Anthem.
Mark:Don't leave me,Going away to College,What's my age again?,Adems song,The Party Song,Wendy Clear.

So it's all good.

Dumpweed - Tom is talking about breaking up with his girlfriend and finding a girl he can train to his liking - 10/10

Don't leave me - Mark is talking about how his girlfriend realised that he doesn't pay attention to her and he doesn't care what she's saying so she threatens to leave him and he begs for another chance - 8/10

Aliens Exist - My little sister (Whos 3) started to sing this song. This is one of my favorites.Tom has been obsessed with Aliens when he was a kid and always feared there was one in his closet and that he was going to be abducted.A lot of people don't like this song but it's pretty funny and I love it - 10/10

Going away to College - Mark is going away and is leaving his girlfriend so he's trying to remember all the good times he had with her and all that - 9/10

Whats My Age Again - Mark singing about how he's real immature and his friends and girlfriend hate him and everyone else does too.A funny song but I'm not very fond of it - 9/10

Dysentery Gary - Tom likes this girl but she likes somone else so he's all upset and thinks girls are a waste of time. But at the same time wan't to piss off the guy she's going out with. One of my fav - 10/10

Adam's Song - Ah,Adams Song. This is a good one. This is a very serious song.Mark always seems to screw up and he's so deppressed and all that so he want's to commit suicide. As he's talking about this he's saying many other things to make it sad and all that.I'd say Blinks first actual matture song - 10/10

All the Small Things - Ah,I don't really like this song but the video is real funny. So in this song Tom is talking about serious matters in life.Love, work, family, all of that. How your trying to live your dreams but it isn't working to you have to do all the stuff you hate and never planed on doing - 9/10

The Party Song - A very fast song. The title speaks for it'self.Marks friends invite him to a party he goes and he thinks it's gonna rock but when he gets there he realises the whole thing sucks and the girls try to use him and...yeah.It's an okay song - 9/10

Mutt - A couple who have too much going on in their sex life....yeah...that about covers it.It's a great song and you can also hear it on the movie American Pie - 10/10

Wendy Clear - Marks life is starting to suck.He can't get what he want's and he finds his ex-girlfriend with another guy who treats her like crap and...well...it's kinda like All the Small Things reall - 10/10

Anthem - This one is another one of my favorites.About Teenagers trying to get away with stuff.Sex,drugs,alcahol,Partys.But for some reason they always get caught - 10/10

This is a very good album and I highly recomend it.Buy this album alonge with all their others.^_^

Free Music Review: All that punk needs to be and then some!
Hit: 5 Stars

Blink-182 is generally a love 'em or hate 'em band. If you love them, then you know how much fun they can be. If you hate them, then you're missing out on some great stuff. A lot of people may dispose the thought of listening to the band because of immature lyrics or other reasons, but honestly, there's so much to love here on "Enema of the State". The album is fast, energetic, riff-filled, funny, inspiring, melodic, and in-your-face. The guitar and bass are crisp and clear, with some awesome guitar riffs and basslines through the album. Then there's Travis Barker on the drums. Man, that drummer is just full of pure, unstoppable energy on the kit!

It would be unfair if I built up the album so much and then left off without giving some insight as to WHY it's so great, so here's a run-through of most of the songs, which are personal highlights for me:

"Dumpweed": A fast and frantic anthem about crazy girls with an awesome, pull-off guitar riff and breakneck drumming, where the verse sections and in-between sections alternate from moderately paced to quite fast-paced.
"Don't Leave Me": Another speedy, short song, this one about breakup instead. A great, skillfull guitar/drum combo with Mark belting out some great vocal melodies and lyrics.
"Aliens Exist": Another song that has the anthemic, energetic sounds of the Warped Tour, this one features Tom on vocals singing about aliens. Another energetic and funny song!
"Going Away To College": A more serious, true-to-life song about missing a loved one as they go off to college, but more great instrumentation here.
"What's My Age Again?": A punk classic with some melodic guitar lines and very funny lyrics. A mid-paced song, but with a great, clean-guitar section in the middle.
"Dysentery Gary": Probably the most melodic song on the entire album, with great guitar lines, funny but jealousy-driven lyrics and awesome melody with a good pace, too.
"Adam's Song": A more balladic, introspective song that shows Blink-182 discussing more serious concerns of the real world. An overall gem of a punk ballad, truly one of the band's best songs.
"All The Small Things": Everybody knows this one! A steady beat, blaring guitars, funny lyrics and an infectiously catchy and memorable chorus.
"The Party Song": A very fast-paced, drum-driven song with great, highly amusing lyrics and more power chords that blast their way from Tom's guitar. A song you can listen to over and over.
"Anthem": More of Travis's great drumming here in this song about rebellion and the spirit of being a misfit in the modern world.

As you can tell, those are the "highlights", and yet that's most of the album right there! "Enema of the State" is an album you can listen to all the way through and love every second of it, and at only about 36 minutes, you certainly won't get bored. If you want a fast and funny punk album by one of the world's best modern punk bands, you will hopefully soon consider this one of your favorite albums, as I already do! Thanks for the time, and peace.
