Free Music Notes for Enema Of The StateFree Music Review: Blink isn't becoming sellouts OR pop!! Hit: 5 Stars
This CD, is definitely the best CD ever. It is filled with non stop quality punk action. Not ONE song in here [isn't good]. This CD happens to be the CD that got me into punk. I now own all 6 of Blink182's CDs. that is not referring to Fly Swatter which they don't make anymore. This is definitely Blink182's best CD. So if you are playing that game where you are choosing your first Blink182 CD, choose this one. That is about the CD. Now for my reviews of the individual songs...1. Dumpweed - One of my favourite song. It's fast and hard. It is a great opening song. It automatically tells you what a lot of the cd will be like. That is [complaining] about girls. 2. Don't Leave me - Another one of my favourite songs. This song has a slightly similar sound to Dumpweed. But this song is better. The drumming in this song is SPECTACULAR! It shows that the new drummer, Travis, can do great drumming just like Scott could. This is also Mark's favourite. He claims he wrote it and has no clue what the lyrics are about! 3. Aliens Exist - Not nearly as good as the 2 opening songs. However, Blink doesn't let you down cause this is another awesome song about aliens that will blow you away. 4. Going Away to College - One of the lighter sings on the c.d. However, a great song none the less. 5. What's My Age Again - This is the song that all Blink182 fans know and love. This was Blink's first smash hit. I guess you could say it was the song that got them well known.I have yet to figure out why this song sounds so awesome. But somehow it does, and happens to be another one of my VERY favourite songs. 6. Dysentery Gary - If you are an easily offended girl, then skip this track cause it can be offensive to girls. But if you aren't then jam on to another great song by Blink182. 7. Adam's Song - It is hard to believe that this smash hit was written by blink at all! It sounds VERY different then the rest of the c.d. Not to mention there are MANY better songs on the c.d. However, it is a great song just like every other song on Enema of The State. 8. All the Small Things - Probably the lightest song on the c.d. Despite what other people on here are saying I think this is a great song. 9. The Party Song - A VERY fast song. Just like Adam's Song this song shows that BLINK182 is capable of doing something completely different... 10. Mutt - This is the worst song on the CD and yet still is a good song! It is much slower, mellower and lighter than other Enema of The State Songs. In fact it sounds exactly like something that would have appeared on the Cheshire Cat CD. 11. Wendy Clear - This song was probably written around the making of Dude Ranch because this song sounds like it could have easily come off of the Dude Ranch C.D. Dud Ranch BTW is the 2nd best Blink182 CD. 12. Anthem - This song is definitely the hardest Blink182 song off of Any Blink182 c.d. It is also another one of my favourite songs. You can just hear the background music overflowing with rich electrical guitar song and is another great song by Blink182.
Free Music Review: Blink 182 At Their Best Hit: 5 Stars
Blink is one of my favorite punk bands and they probably will be for a long time. i think they're awesome. thats why i bought this cd. of all of their music, i think this is the best of all. i will review each song and rate it on a scale of 1 to 10:
dumpweed: tom does a good job at singing this song. the song is really fun to listen to. they just need to play a larger variety of chords. 9/10
don't leave me: one of my favorite songs on the cd. its good to listen to at a party. i like travis's drumming in the song (you should see him in their concerts). 9.5/10
aliens exist: the very beginning sounds good but then it completely changes. its a good song. tom sounds like a little kid singing this song. 8.5/10
going away to college: the beginning of this song sounds weird but then it starts to sound really good. the lyrics are pretty good surprisingly. it is a great song. 10/10
what's my age again?: this is a really funny song about being too immature for your age. at the very end there is a sequence where there is no singing that sounds really good and the part before it is good where mark has a harmony with himself is good too. 10/10
dysentary gary: the guitar in the song sounds really good in the beginning of the song. mark has a part in the song where its just him that i like a lot. 9.5/10
adam's song: this song sounds very depressing from the very beginning where there isn't any singing. if this song is to keep you from commiting suicide then its doing a bad job. it made me cry the first time. its depressing. 8.7/10
all the small things: i love this song. if i could give it an eleven i would. the guitar and bass are awesome in this song. even my parents approve of it. i like to listen to it over and over. this was the first blink song i ever heard and it hooked me. 10/10
the party song: mark does this song very very fast. i don't know how he did it. he takes like one breath the whole song. it even sounds like he's running out of breath. it sounds real good though. took me a long time to figure out what he was saying (think sean paul). 9.5/10
mutt: the music itself sounds a little out of the ordinary but it goes perfectly with tom's singing. somehow if you take two weird things you get something thats pretty good. go figure. its not my favorite but its a good song. 8/10
wendy clear: i like the melody in the song. i also like mark's singing but the lyrics are stupid. i don't care though. it sounds like he wants to be the miss america of teenagers. 9.5/10
anthem: this song is really funny. especially the weird guy humpin the dog. i like the fast pace of the song. i don't know why they used this song to end the cd. its really good. i don't know why he sez that he's a time bomb but its sounds good so i didn't care. 10/10
they matured a little in this album but blink still kept their image of immaturity pretty strong.
Free Music Review: one of my favorite CDs Hit: 5 Stars
im normally the type of person that will buy a cd, have 2 or 3 favorite tracks and then forget about the cd. when i first got enema of the state, i sat down and i listen to the entire thing, start to finish. i loved the entire album- a first for me! 1. dumpweed: great song that will get you pumped up, it has a catchy melody and good guitar 2. don't leave me: will get you dancing around, this is a great high energy song 3. aliens exist: this is one of those songs where you know every word and have to sing along every time 4. going away to college: this is my second-favorite song on the cd. the thing i love about it is its bittersweet but refreshingly honest lyrics: "i havent been this scared in a long time, and i'm so unprepared so heres your valentine" and "this worlds an ugly place, but your so beautiful to me" 5. whats my age again: if you dont like this track for the song, you have to love the video- this is a catchy song, i love the guitar 6. dysentary gary: great opening 2 lines! one of the "noisier" songs on the album but unlike other punk songs, the melody and lyrics arent lost within the loud music. 7. adams song: this song instantly became my favorite song ever when i heard it the very first time and was almost brought to tears. a lot of people can really relate to it: "...to pass the time in my room alone" and its sad lyrics. its the only "slow" song on the album, put picks up the pace toward the end. blink tackles the difficult subject of suicide in a beautiful song that really hit home with me. people underestimate the depth of punk bands, but blink 182 reveals a different side of themselves. 8. all the small things: if there was one sellout song on the album, this is it. not that its a bad song or anything, i absolutely LOVE the video, its hilarious. blink mocks the extreme overload of teenyboppers out there and everything they suggest about them is so true! this is a really catchy song, and one that most people think of when they hear "blink 182" 9. the party song- i think this song is sooo funny just to hear about how guys think about girls and parties, etc. this is a light, fun song. its title describes it perfectly 10. mutt: i love the drumming in this song, its lyrics contrast the guy and the girl in a relationship: "shes open waiting for more...and i know he's only looking to score" 11. wendy clear: talks about the difficulties of girls, i love the rift in the middle 12. the anthem: i personally like this song because i can relate to a lot of its lyrics about parents, great songbottom line: blink's combination of great guitars, drum, vocals ( i absolutely am in love with both toms voice and marks deeper one) and *gasp* sometimes deep lyrics, enema of the state is a definite breakthrough album-- buy it!!!
Free Music Review: Not Bad, Really Good Actually, I'm Sick Of All You People. Hit: 5 Stars
OKAY SO BLINK MADE A BIG CHANGE, FROM 1992-1998 THEY WERE LIKE A DIFFERENT BAD. BUT NOT TO ME, EVERYTHING NEEDS A CHANGE. DURING THE "DUDE RANCH" ALBUM (1997) THEY HAD THE TO HITS "JOSIE" AND "DAMMIT". FROM 1-10 AND 10 BEING AS BIG AS EVER THEY WERE LIKE A FIVE. GETTING A LITTLE OUT OF THE UNDERGROUND. AFTER THE UNKNOWN "CHESHIRE CAT" ALBUM. THEY ASKED FOR HELP FROM THEIR GOOD FRIEND AND THERE PRODUCER. ON THAT ALBUM "DUDE RANCH" THEY SINGED FOR MCA RECORDS. THEN 2 YEARS LATER THEY PUT TOGETHER A HELL OF AN ALBUM "ENEMA OF THE STATE" WICH IS REALLY DIFFERENT FROM THE OLD BLINK. THEY NEEDED A CHANGE, AND CHANGE IS GOOD, DON'T CALL THEM "SELL-OUT" AND BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. IF THEIR "SELL-OUTS" WICH THEY'RE NOT, THEN JUST DON'T LIKE THEM ANYMORE IF THAT'S HOW YOU FEEL. AND YES WE ALL KNOW THAT SCOTT LEFT. IT WAS LIKE THE BEST RESON TO LEAVE THE BAND, TO FINISH COLLEGE, AND BLINK DID HAVE A SONG ON THE ALBUM "GOING AWAY TO COLLEGE", BUT IT REALLY HAD NOTHING TO WITH SCOTT. ANYWAY MARK AND TOM FOUND TRAVIS (WICH COME ON, HE'S REALLY COOL) WICH THAT FORMED THE DUSTED OFF NEW AND IMPROVED BLINK-182. AND "ENEMA OF THE STATE" PROVES THAT THEY ARE BETTER THEN EVER. MY FAVORITE TRACKS SUCH AS "ADAM'S SONG", "ANTHEM" WILL LEAVE YOU BREATH LESS AND LEAVE YOU CRYING BECAUSE IT'S GONNA BE THE BEST THING YOU'LL EVER HEAR. THIS HAS TO BE THERE BEST CD, COME ON THE TWO BIGGEST BLINK HITS EVER "WHAT'S MY AGE AGAIN?" AND "ALL THE SMALL THINGS." THEY COULDN'T STAY THE SAME BAND BEING UNKNOWN FORVER, WITH NOT ENOGH MONEY AS THEY WANT IN THEIR POCKETS. THEY WENT ON TRL, YES TRL, WICH IS NOT BEING A SELL BECAUSE IN THERE 1997 AND 1995 ALBUM THERE WAS NO TRL BACK THEN, SO THEY COULDN'T BE ON TRL COULD THEY. AND 1999 THERE WAS A TRL, AND THIS ALBUM WAS OUT TOO SO WATCH OUT TRL, HERE COMES BLINK. I WISH I SAW WHEN THEY PERMIERED "WHAT'S MY AGE AGAIN" HISTORY IN THE MAKING DEFFENITLY. AND THEY ARE THE BEST OUT THERE, AND THEY WENT FROM AN UNKNOWN ZERO AAAALL THE WAY TO A TEN and yeah the capital letters do hurt your eyes, sorry .- MICHAEL ZARATE
Free Music Review: Absolute pop-punk classic Hit: 5 Stars
1999 was a crazy year. Everyone was getting prepared for Y2K. Everyone was out seeing Star Wars Episode 1, Toy Story 2, and The Sixth Sense. It was a year of popstars (Britney Spears, N*SYNC, Christina Aguilera, Backstreet Boys) and rap-rockers (KoRn, Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock), but among them came a little punk trio of guys in their mid-20's singing teen anthems along to simple, catchy, energetic music that would inspire hit music for years to come. That band was blink-182, the band that created tons of hits, inspired millions of teens to start bands, and popularized the term "pop-punk", and it all happened with this album.
Enema of The State is now considered a rock classic. From beginning to end, its one of the catchiest, most energetic, melodic, and loudest records ever. The lyrics range from hilarious (The Party Song) to heartfelt (Going Away To College), to a combination of both (Anthem).
Tom's powerchords are the loudest and crunchiest I've ever heard on a pop album, and his lead riffs are some of the simplelest but catchiest I've ever heard, and come on- what kid starting to learn guitar nowadays doesn't try to learn Adam's Song? Vocally his bratty voice fits songs perfect with him taking over the vocals on songs such as Dumpweed, Aliens Exist, Dysentary Gary, All The Small Things, Mutt, and Anthem. Mark plays bass very simply, but his tone is very clean and complements guitar and drums very well. His fills in the bridge of What's My Age Again? are perfect as well. Vocally Mark has a cleaner voice than Tom, which works well on the songs he sings- Don't Leave Me, Going Away To College, What's My Age Again, Adam's Song, The Party Song, and Wendy Clear. That brings us to Travis- but what hasn't been said about this guy already? He's f-ing amazing! His beats are incredibly fast and his fills are timed and calculated spot on. He's definetly got to be one of the greatest drummers of all time.
This record is just a straight up classic. Look at so many of the popular rock bands that emerged in the 2000's- Sum 41, Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, Yellowcard, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco... Would any of these bands have been able to achieve so much popularity if blink hadn't kicked the doors of pop-punk wide open? I think not. So whether your just chilling in your room, going on a road trip, or having a pool party- throw this record on and rock out, because it's perfect.
