Free Music Review: One of the best album in a down year for music

Maybe I haven't heard the good stuffs this year. But it seems like 2008 is a boring year for the kind of music I listen to(Rock). All of my favorite bands/artists released their stuff last year(Radiohead, The Shins, Arcade Fire, Iron & Wine, Modest Mouse...) Compare to that, this year's CD by returning "established" artist are a mixbag of mediocrity. TV on the Radio followed their most consistent effort Cookie Mountain with the sometimes excellent(Halfway home, Dancing Choose) and half the time extremely unlistenable Dear Science. Artist like Portishead, Death Cab and Coldplay also had in my opinion disappointing albums.
However, new(er) artist like Blitzen Trapper, Fleet Foxes and Vampire Weekend has filled the void with 3 excellent albums that I consider co-album of the year. But on to the album, Blitzen Trapper followed what they did in their first album(which is having a lot of different styles put in order that actually makes sense in an album) but change the style. Gone are the hippish anthem like "Wild Mountain Nation". In comes songs that are more Neil Young-Bob Dylanish.
The whole album is consistent without any significant stretch of bad songs(see rating below). I don't think you'll regret this purchase.
