Free Music Review: Pushing Forward
Hit: 5 Stars

The dynamics between these three musicians is still prevalent, along with the unmistakable vocals and cleverly playful percussion, guitar, bass, and keys. What does thrust this album a bit ahead of the pack of previous projects is the mix of so many different sounds, many electronic. The use of strings complements their new songs real well but also has me longing for a harder track or two, which you won't find on this album. But the overall creativity and quirkiness of this outfit is well preserved and they've done a fantastic job. I'm happier after listening to the album a second time and am only enjoying it more with each revolution.

Free Music Review: Beautiful and Haunting. . . .inexpressible
Hit: 5 Stars

I LOVE THIS ALBVM!!! My first albvm of BRH but I've been listening to them ever since '93. The orcestrated lyrics and sounds in this albvm are just as the others but very very destructive and beautiful (well atleast to me!) If you aren't into experimental bands like BRH,NIN,SP,& SY or anyother band that sounds like they progressively change their sound through out cd's or songs get usto them. . .you don't know what your missing out on. . .they can teach you many things for those who play to push everything into destructive noise and make beauty through confusion and that ever softly release of melody in meloncholy

Free Music Review: Worth it
Hit: 5 Stars

The record is amazing. Just as good as their classic "Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons" If you liked the last one you may be caught off guard by the more Pop-ish element in "Misery..." The band hasn't lost any thing of essential value though, they've simply gone in a different direction. If you are dissapointed by the pop elements, stick with it. the album rewards repeated listens. I think if you give this one a chance you'll realize that it is just as good if better than any of their other stuff. Haunting, mellow and full of a melancholy ethereal shine.

Free Music Review: Beyond Sonic Youth
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm one of those people who always thought Blonde Redhead sounded like Sonic Youth. The album cover caught my eye and when I saw who it was by I almost set it down and walked away. I'm glad I didn't. No longer do they sound like Sonic Youth. They now sound like Felt Mountain era Goldfrapp but playing live instruments. This isn't a bad thing, in fact, if BR continue to sound this good they'll become one of my favorite bands. The only complaint is that the songs are very similar. Fortunately, I love the song and therefore love the album.

Free Music Review: A change of heart
Hit: 5 Stars

When this album was first released, I was (frankly) disappointed by it. Having become a fan of BR through their "Damaged Lemons" album, my expectations were for more of that (music that was both lyrical and dissonant; quiet and loud; hard and soft). "Butterfly", however, is a much different album: it has an overarching mood. It takes a few listens to appreciate...and a few more to love. I DO love this music now, though. And, I appreciate and respect BR's continuing creative development.
