Blondie remains they most creative and unique band in music history. Rock owes alot of respect to Blondie. In 1981 the band scored 2 #1 Singles in "The Tide is High" and "Rapture" introducing Rap and Reggae to the American Public, not to mentionmost of the planet. In 1979 they released the first ever Video album for their 1979 release "Eat to the Beat" some of the videos
from that release are on this Greatest hits DVD version of this album. Blondie had mass appeal worldwide, their 1978 album "Parallel Lines" spawned no less than 6 International hits, and sold some 20 Million copies worldwide. As recent as the summer of 2002, Rolling Stone Magazine named "Parallel Lines" the 6th Coolest Album of all time. This Greatest Hits album has no less than 7 #1 songs, and numerous top ten singles. More than most Greatest Hits albums by any other artist, so your getting a big buy here. Blondie has written and performed some of Rock Music's finest moments, like "Call Me", "Atomic" and of course the legendary "Heart of Glass". Deborah Harry's Bi-Lingual vocals on the Euro Smash "Denis" is pure magic. The band has always been diverse in their endless search for music creativity. The throbbing EuroBeat of "Call me" and "Atomic", the
Techno "Heart of Glass", the reggae tinted "The Tide is High" and
of course the classic begingings of Hip Hop with "Rapture". Those fans that want the New Wave influenced hits, won't be
disappointed either. There's the Punky "Rip Her to Shreds", the New Wave "One Way or Another and Hanging on the Telephone". Since Blondie's debute in 1977, they have remained a band true to form, and this Greatest Hits release features their 1999 MEGA EUROPEAN SMASH "MARIA" which was #1 all over the planet in 1999, but yet was so familiar, it seemed like it was 1979 instead.
