Free Music Notes for Parallel LinesFree Music Review: truly significant, and still relevant Hit: 5 Stars
Man, we wore this album out more than once when I was in college back in the 80s. Blondie WAS the 80s, and everyone else were mere followers. Don't believe me? Back in the 70s, when everyone else was busy making the worst music ever, Blondie was living in vans and run-down apartments, already playing their 80s music in the streets and nightclubs to whoever would listen. They were literally years ahead of their time.
I can't believe I went so long without a copy of "Parallel Lines", but I'm glad they're back in my life.
Free Music Review: Classic New Wave Hit: 5 Stars
Definitely one of the most memorable CD's of the late 70's New Wave phase. Slick catchy rhythms, nice keyboard touches, super drumming, and oh so cool singing by Deborah Harry, a true diva. Those first three songs Hanging On The Telephone, One Way Or Another, and Picture This just grab me with delight. 11:59 is another winner laoded with great keyboard touches. The bonus tracks rule as its nice to hear the origins of Heart of Glass in Once I Had A Love.
Truly a keeper peeps. Make sure its in your collection.
Free Music Review: What's her line ... ? Hit: 5 Stars
With Deborah Harry as the clear focal point of the band, let's focus on her. She can be aggressive ("Hanging on the Telephone") and she can be dreamy ("Picture This"). She can be "cold as ice cream, but still as sweet" ("Sunday Girl") and she can be "hanging on a frequency and burning like a fire" ("11:59"). She can be snide ("I Know But I Don't Know"), she can be stuck-up ("Just Go Away"), and she can be seductive ("Heart of Glass"). As the remarkably strong music asserts, it's not because she's moody. She's just deep.
Free Music Review: Blondie's Best Album Hit: 5 Stars
This is my favorite Blondie album. All of the songs are excellent and enjoyable. Debbie Harry's vocals have never been better, and neither has the material. There are energetic rock songs and meaningful ballads. My favorite songs are: Hanging On the Telephone, One Way or Another, Heart of Glass, Will Anything Happen?, Sunday Girl and I'm Gonna Love You Too. The bonus tracks are also very good. I would recommend this for a Blondie fan, or someone who likes 70s/punk rock music.
Free Music Review: It got me, got me, got me Hit: 5 Stars
Parallel Lines is as fresh today as it was the first time I heard it. This is one of a handful of releases that snapped the 70's out of the doldrums of music it was going through. This is still by far the best release Blondie put out! Edgy and soothing at the same time, with stunning musicianship, and the lovely Deborah Harry's infectious voice! The result of this release was the challenge to other bands to step up, and the wellspring of great music that followed!
