First off this cd or any other for that matter is not worth 40 bucks. I was lucky enough to listen to it in it's original vinyl record form. It's the usual kind of rock from the 70's featuring the organ. Some of the songs sound good and others just don't rock out that much but it's still a decent 70's rock album worth checking out if that's your kind of music.
Free Music Review: Can't compete with Bloodrock Live Hit: 2 Stars
I can't understand the many 5 star reviews - havn't you guys heard the Bloodrock Live album? The sparkle of this great Live album (at least 4 stars) is totally missing here. The passable "Promises" and another one (I forgot) can't make up for the lousy rest.
Free Music Review: - - - I won't rate it , sorry ! - - - Hit: 1 Stars
This is amazingly strange. This hard-rock band (produced & engineered by the same gang that did Grand Funk, and sharing the Capitol label) did not hold a candle to the very best rockers of the same era. In my humble opinion, there were more competent and more exciting musicians than the ones we find on the first Bloodrock albums. BUT, I admit I used to enjoy a cupple of their songs on Bloodrock 3, and some tunes from this album, titled Bloodrock USA (with it's appropriate ironic cover art). I think 'Magic Man' was one of my favorites. This was the hard rocking period of Bloodrock. Still, for the justice of those american musicians, I will insist on the fact that their two best recordings (again, in my humble opinion) are Passage and Whirlwind Tongues. The musical and vocal achievements they did on those gems are good to the point that, technically, they turned into a strong rock group (I know I will offend some of the 'heavier' Bloodrock's admirers). Not that the hard rocking Bloodrock was uninteresting, but the two last albums were truly impressive. More 'mature' could be a good description of what I have in mind. Songs such as 'Gonna be love', or their cover of 'Eleanor Rigby' are unbelievable beauties; The vocal harmonies, the sound, the 'jazzier' side of their muscled rock music are wondrous (do NOT think Whirlwind Tongues is sort of a "bleached-out" Bloodrock!). Bloodrock has reached the top ... near the end. The IRONY (not the one on the cover this time) is the following: Why albums as great as Passage and Whirwind Tongues have been 'neglected' by the public and the fans to such a degree that even record companies do not consider their edition on cd ? ( ! ) Amazingly strange .
