Free Music Review: The Logical Next Step (A BlueManLibrary.com Review)
Hit: 5 Stars

I have always been a huge fan of Blue Man Group and their theatrical productions across the US. When "Audio" was first released in 1999, I bought my first copy and was in awe at the sheer dynamic and soul rocking beats of their music. With the new album "The Complex" you get a step up from their previous work with catchy rhythms and upbeat rock and roll. The Complex has a rebirth quality to it, like Blue Man Group is reinventing rock and roll all over again in their own special way. Combined with their original from-scratch instruments, several guest vocalists including Tracy Bonham, Dave Matthews and Gavin Rossdale, the album has quality that Audio could not deliver. The Complex delivers something for everyone, whether it is full out rock and roll, dynamic drumming or fresh vocals from today's rising stars. In a conclusive statement, if you liked Audio, if you like Blue Man Group, if you enjoy Tribal beats then The Complex should be in your CD player this very moment.

Free Music Review: Another great BMG CD!
Hit: 5 Stars

After living in Chicago for 14 years and seeing the BMG at least 5 times in person, I was a bit skeptical about their new CD "The Complex". I didn't like the fact that there were vocals, but that was before I actually listened to the CD. After I did, I was glad I bought it. It is very unique...as BMG music tends to be. For anyone expecting this to be another "Audio" CD, its not. For the reviewers who say I don't like it because there are vocals, but I "only give it 3 stars because I haven't heard it" shouldn't review it until they actually listen to it because its an awesome CD. The vocals are put to BMG instruments. It sounds really cool. There are a couple of tracks that are similar to "Audio" in the fact that they are instrumental. Its hard to describe because there is no comparison to it. All I can say is if you enjoyed "Audio", give "The Complex" a try even though there are vocals...its really unique...its really good.

Free Music Review: I Feel Love
Hit: 5 Stars

I wish I could give this album MORE than 5 stars. I first saw the Group in NYC and had a great time, so when they came to Toronto I went to the Complex concert. It turned out to be a maxed-out version of the NYC show and the best live performance I've ever experienced. Even the warm-up bands were great. So, I went out and bought every CD they ever made and even every CD that any band that ever toured with them ever made. My musical universe just got a whole lot larger. Although I feel that there are too many labels for music today, sometimes they are necessary. This music is definitely high energy "rock-pop". If it were a drink it would be a vodka-martini. If it were an animal it would be a large, sleek cat. If it were a colour, it would be an electric blue. (How about a large sleek, electric blue cat drinking a vodka martini?) I wish they'd make a DVD of the Complex concert. I can hardly wait for the next concert and the next CD.

Free Music Review: Amazing!
Hit: 5 Stars

When The Blue Man Group set out to make this record their attitude was to make a rock record with as little limitations as possible and to expand their own sound. The result is an album that is as ambitious as they wanted to be. These are full songs, many with guest vocalists. The funny thing is listening to these songs and wondering what the sounds are that you are hearing. From their air-poles and tubulums to anvils and oil drums all of the sounds you associate with them are on this CD.

Lyrically the album is as complex as the music. Most of them dealing with the almost natural alienation caused by our ever developing technocracy that tries to bring people together while at the same time creating it's own boundaries and distances. My favorite song "Persona" deals with the mask we put on in front of other people and the increasing difficulty you have in taking it off.

Definitly one of the best albums of last year!

Free Music Review: I heard this CD was good, but DANG!
Hit: 5 Stars

The Complex is one of the greatest CDs I've ever listened to. Blue Man Group is able to do what few people have pulled off: take things like PVC tubing and air poles and mix them splendidly with heavy drums and guitars to produce a hypnotic and futuristic sound. The guest vocalists were perfect; Dave Matthews especially. "Sing Along" is a magnificent song with a very melancholy beat to it and yet it sums up the whole CD with the phrase "If I sing a song, will you sing along, or should I just keep singing right here by myself?" Their version of "I Feel Love" has a very new sound, and yet it still holds the essence of the original; not something you hear very much anymore. "Persona" is a wonderfully dark sounding track that I especially enjoyed. This is a CD for anybody who likes rock music with a bit of a twist.
