B.Ö.C. have always been a good live act, like KISS, but on the studioalbums they had to offer a lot more. After the excellent "On Your Feet or On Your Knees" (alas missing "Astronomy" and "Stairway to the stars"), like "KISS Alive" after only the first 3 studiorecordings, they made "Agents of Fortunes" and "Spectres", and released a second live outing "An Enchanted Evening". Furthermore the band deliverd several new studioalbums like "Mirrors", "Cultosaurus Erectus" and "Fire of an Unknown Origin" whilst still touring over the globe, which resulted in this third live (on vinyl double)album, containing a few songs present already on the aformetionted livereleases and more from the latter 3 studioalbums (but still no sign of "Stairway to the stars", alas). Although the bands own songwritings are excellent, vital stuff for live performances, they always delighted in taking songs from others on stage, but made them hear like their own songs. That is here the case with the classic Doors song "Roadhouse Blues", with the aid of Doorsmember Robbie Krieger on leadguitar. Besides that original drummer Albert Bouchard is not totally present anymore and in his place is the late Richard Downey, which explains the 6 men instead of 5 bandmembers on the cover. The with SF author Michael Moorcock co-written "Black Blade", an eerie tale, is outstanding, complete with strange soundeffects, as is "Joan Crawford" and off course "Godzilla". Therefore this album presents what B.Ö.C. stands for, a solid hardrock and hard working band. In no way it sounds commercially, like "KISS Alive II", but gives you an idea how the liveshow has developed after a decade since the beginning of B.Ö.C., with fresh input but still welcoming some of the bands classic tunes. Recommended.
