Free Music Notes for Just About EverythingFree Music Review: Mort Fega introduced me - - - Hit: 5 Stars
- - to Bob Dorough's work when we were both jazz DJs in Phoenix on KXIV in the early 70's. By the way, we had better numbers on our low powered AM station than the Stereo-FM/NPR affiliate. As I recall, Mort produced the album, and I loved it from the first. His piano's okay, the guitarist gets over-his-head a time or two, but the whole album (as the aforementioned reviews illustrate) was a joy! One of my ex-wives had the vinyl copy, so I'm now rewarding myself with the CD, thank you.
And, yes, Bob was doing those Saturday Morning Cartoons some years ago...
Hey, Life Is Good!
Free Music Review: Beautifully Soothing Hit: 5 Stars
Bob Dorough's music is the perfect thing to come home to after a stressful day of work, or a non-stressful day for that matter. His notes swirl into a harmonious sound that relaxes every inch of your body. Lyrically it's excellent and his unique twang adds the right touch. "But for now" is a beautiful love song that my girlfriend and I can't help but dance to.
Free Music Review: Thoughtful piano jazz, melancholy cool. Hit: 5 Stars
Dorough is piano jazz's best kept secret. From first to last, these tracks will get you humming. "Baltimore Oriole"--a favorite of Miles Davis--is worth the CD all by itself. Dorough tells simple human stories with some lovely piano embellishments. You'll enjoy this CD from the man who brought young people "Schoolhouse Rock." He's a treasure.
Free Music Review: Wow, Bob Dorough, hear him once you will want more Hit: 5 Stars
I heard one of his songs on the radio and knew I needed more.Fun, insightful and unique you will find yourself singing along with him. I would say that he is something new but he has been recording for a long time so I think he is just getting the attention he deserves. Try one of his CDs.
