Free Music Notes for The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan AlbumFree Music Review: a remarkable effort Hit: 5 Starsafter his folky debut, the self titled_bob dylan_ dylan began to move away from doing covers of traditional folk songs, and began to move towards writing his own material, which turned out to be better than worse. in fact, you can tell he hasnt completely let go of covers, because of traditionals like corrina, corrina, which is still a magnificent song in its own right. but what dylan has accomplished here, in his somewhat humble and very underground( outside of the folk world) record, is a landmark to music itself. songs such as blowin' in the wind are some of the most memorable and essential of the 20th century, and will continue to live on as it still is currently.
girl from the north country is simply cheerful- and is a great song to just chill to. for me, it delivers quite a strong feeling of happiness, and mellowness, if thats a word.
masters of war will send chillls down your spine, spinning up direct images of the often over-the-top accusations he makes towards the leaders of the time in which it was made. it is one of the more memorable tracks on the album, and you will find yourself going back to listen to it over and over again.
down the highway is a somewhat deathly blues, and creates just the image as describe by the setting of the title of the song.
bob dylan's blues is similar to the track before it, and equally interesting and as exciting.
a hard rain's a gonna fall is simplly beatiful, yet cautious, and deserves just as much attention as classics such as blowin' in the wind and the times they are a-changin', though it rarely receives it.
dont think twice its alright is just like its predecessor, yet is more easily categorized in the more mellow and loving of dylan songs, such as its all over now baby blue, tonight ill be staying here with you, ill be your baby tonightn, its all over now baby blue, you get the drift. but youve probably heard this song anyway, so ill leave the decision-making to you.
the rest of the album holds up fairly well, but for me this is one of those albums that i find the first half so enthralling and brilliant that i lose interest to the second half, although it may be equally deservant. examples of these types of albums may be madman across the water- elton john, aja- steely dan, exile on main st.- rolling stones, etc.
