Free Music Review: How does he do it - - -
Hit: 4 Stars

Bob Dylan, a guy who has always been criticized for his raspy voice has put out a record that puts that rasp to good use. I like the sound, it is warm, it sounds like it was rushed together, but it really only sounds that way, the sound is like a well done 70s record. It doesn't sound like a CD. His voice reminds me of someone besides him, maybe it's him. "I Feel a Change Comin On" is really good. His "Jolene" is a classic bluesy type song. Musically, I can hear Band and Dead influences in the sound.
Only Dylan could get away with this.

Free Music Review: Very different for Dylan
Hit: 4 Stars

Just this morning I went to the kitchen and my wife had this on. We talked about how enjoyable it is. I think that this is Dylan really enjoying himself as a stylist. The arrangements are a lovely amalgam of Dixon meets Flaco. The musicians are great, as is Dylan's voice. The songs are not all strong, but that's okay. If it were a typical Dylan album, that would matter, but it does so less to me in this case--this is Dylan working a genre rather than specific songs, and as a whole, I think it succeeds.

Free Music Review: Together Through life/Bob Dylan
Hit: 4 Stars

What an apt title! As a life-long Dylan fan I was thrilled by the collector edition which included photos
of Bob recording "Blowin' in the Wind" at Roy Silver's prompting, the "Friends" theme time radio hour CD and
the poster and sticker. I'm still evaluating the new music but it certainly makes me smile...especially "Shake Shake Mama"! Thanks to Amazon for the speedy delivery and reasonable price.

Free Music Review: It's OK, but the Radio Hour disc is a lot of fun
Hit: 4 Stars

"Together Through Life" didn't make much of an impression on me, even after repeated listening. It seems like a watered-down version of "Modern Times." The second disc was my first exposure to Bob's radio show. The theme is Friends and Neighbors, and from the first (uncredited) strains of Charlie Parker doing "Just Friends," you know you're in good hands. Sit back, relax, and enjoy.

Free Music Review: Similar to recent studio efforts
Hit: 4 Stars

The sound and songs of Together Through Life are similar to the recent studio albums Time Out Of Mind, Love & Theft, and Modern Times. If you're a fan of those releases, this is a worthwhile purchase.
