Just this morning I went to the kitchen and my wife had this on. We talked about how enjoyable it is. I think that this is Dylan really enjoying himself as a stylist. The arrangements are a lovely amalgam of Dixon meets Flaco. The musicians are great, as is Dylan's voice. The songs are not all strong, but that's okay. If it were a typical Dylan album, that would matter, but it does so less to me in this case--this is Dylan working a genre rather than specific songs, and as a whole, I think it succeeds. As a long time dylan fan I was previously disappointed with the last 2 albums and was not sure I would by this one. But after hearing 'Beyond here lies nothin' I was impressed and bought the CD. A couple songs do miss the mark of being great, but the majority of this CD is wonderful. Dylan's old smoker vocals really are easier on the ears than I think his younger voice that many complained about. Free Music Review: A huge disappointment

Sorry to review this album with a pathetic 2 stars..2 stars only because it's Dylan, so we have to show some respect.
I have played this album numerous times trying to get to like it. But, with each playing I like it less.
The album is not even in the same universe as Modern Times. A very huge disappointment as well as a waste of money.
Can't find 1 single song that is at best agreeable much less impacting.
Almost always, a CD will contain 3 or 4 winners, the rest dogs. This album offers nothing, Boo to you Bobby D. !

What an apt title! As a life-long Dylan fan I was thrilled by the collector edition which included photos
of Bob recording "Blowin' in the Wind" at Roy Silver's prompting,the "Friends" theme time radio hour CD and
the poster and sticker. I'm still evaluating the new music but it certainly makes me smile...especially "Shake Shake Mama"! Thanks to Amazon for the speedy delivery and reasonable price.
