Free Music Notes for Live at the Roxy, Hollywood, California, May 26, 1976 - The Complete ConcertFree Music Review: One of the best live recordings ever Hit: 5 Stars
Although I never had the pleasure to see Bob live, I have seen enough archival footage to know what an electric performer he was. Listening to this CD I can almost feel myself in the audience. This is a reggae sonic explosion. There is so much going on musically from great guitar solos to the incredible backing and harmonies of the I-Threes that I find myself listening to 20-30 second sections over and over again, they are that good. I put this in my car about 5 days ago and it has not come out. The medley on disc two is just mesmerizing. This would make it to the desert island with me and I am sure that I would never get sick of it. Truly an amazing performance by an incredible man(band) that should be cherished. Natty Dread!
Free Music Review: AN AMAZING and HISTORIC SHOW!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
An utter MUST for your collection if you want to call yourself a true Marley fan. As you know if you own LIVE! and Babylon By Bus, Bob is always at his absolute best live and in person....and this is a truly historic concert at LA's Roxy Theatre with Bob in his prime and The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan in attendance. The sound quality and song set are first rate, the crowd is electric (much more so than on Babylon By Bus or even LIVE! as the venue is much more intimate) and the show is unreal!....with the encore being truly amazing! Get it ASAP....you will LOVE it guaranteed! Only bad thing is you will SOOOOOO wish you had been there! :-) Rastafari and RIP Bob!!
Free Music Review: Intimate classic Hit: 5 Stars
For true Bob Marley fans this album is an absolute must have. This is Marley in front a a small club at the Roxy in Hollywood. There have been two amazing Live albums that show Marley at the peak of his arena music in "Live" and "Babylon by Bus", but this one takes the cake because it is Marley stripped down just him in the music, It's like every one of his words go right to the listeners hearts. It gives you a man seeking peace and getting his message to the world. This CD is an unbelievable testament of Marley staying power and all Marley fans should have this in their collection. For new fans a great place to start would be to get the "Legend" album.
Free Music Review: Yes, We Want More Hit: 5 Stars
This is an excellent cd, better than the "Live" album. This cd features 15 songs in which all sound great. You feel as if you are there, and the crowd really gets into it as well. "Burnin' and Lootin', "Rebel Music", and "I Shot the Sheriff" are some real great songs on this set, but "Want More" could be the best song on disc 1. Every song on the cd is great, and I can't put the cd down. Disc 2 really kicks, as the version of "Positive Vibration" is the best version i've heard, and the 24 minute medley of "Get Up Stand Up/No More Trouble/War" is fantastic. A person who was blessed to see Bob live is very lucky, now you get to hear what you missed.
Free Music Review: THE BEST LIVE BOB MARLEY Hit: 5 Stars
I got to see Marley and the Wailers live a number of times -- which shows my age, if nothing else. I had always thought that the "Live" album, at the Rainbow in London, was the closest to the actual experience of seeing this amazing group -- but fell a bit short. Seeing the band live was nearly a religious experience, like Gospel music complete with "call and response" sections for the audience. This Live at The Roxy is far better than that earlier "Live" CD. The second CD, in particular, which includes the encore, is 22 minutes where they simply tear the roof of the club. If this doesn't make you move, you are dead.
