Free Music Notes for Legend: The Best Of Bob Marley And The Wailers (New Packaging)Free Music Review: This CD changed my life! Hit: 5 Stars
As many reviewers have posted, Bob Marley's LEGEND may be considered a "Best of" compilation but I personally consider it more of an introduction the man and his vision. I originally purchased this CD when it was released nearly two decades back and have recently acquired the new remastered with additional tracks. Why? This is a CD one will never (or should never) tire of.
Bob Marley just wanted the world to be a better place to live and was blessed with the gift of presenting his hopes, dreams and suggestions through music and lyrics. He believed in respect - both in one's self and of others. He encouraged positivity amongst our brothers and sisters. He hoped for world peace. All of these messages can be found in his music. LEGEND is just the starting point. How can you not feel good after listening to this collection?
If you've yet to tap into the vision of Bob Marley, this is the CD for you. The man was not bitter - he was an inspiration to many. We could use Bob Marley in the world today.
Free Music Review: A Reggae Essential Hit: 5 Stars
Bob Marley was one of the most creative, intelligent musicians to ever live, and his legacy is perfectly captured in this compilation. None of the classics are left out, and the songs rightfully display why Marley was the greatest reggae musician of all time.
There lies not a single weak track. A sensational live version of the balladic No Woman, No Cry is exceptional. Could You Be Loved is a very energetic, catchy tune, and Buffalo Soldier is simply magnificent soul music. Get Up Stand Up is another highlight for me, a very expressive song. I Shot The Sheriff is immediately recognizable and is a fun tune. Redemption Song is has a great melody to it, probably my favourite here. Most people should be familiar with Jamming, a catchy melody and a wonderful upbeat feel within the song.
A highly recommended compilation displaying the talents of an amazing musician who's music should be cherished by all lovers of music. Especially recommended to reggae listeners and also listeners of R&B and soul.
Free Music Review: Rock convert to Mr. Marley's genius Hit: 5 Stars
This collection is the best way to get introduced to Bob Marley. If you love this record like I did, don't waste any time before starting to get the rest of his catalog. Out of the five or six Bob Marley albums that I've heard so far, I haven't found one I don't like a lot... a whole lot. I recommend "Survival" after this one because it's amazing and not one of the songs on that album is on "Legend".
It's hard to be in a bad mood and listen to this stuff. I don't get as mad at other driver's when I listen to this music in the car.
I was looking for something new that had soul but a different vibe from the blues-based rock I love. Man, was reggae a breath of fresh air and exactly what I was looking for.
The quality of Bob's songwriting and the musicianship demonstrated by him and his band is mind boggling. If I lived in the UK, I'd say that this was "brilliant". Let's just say that finding this great music has been a very big, and welcome, surprise for me.
Free Music Review: A Fantastic Introduction to Reggae Music Hit: 5 Stars
I've always liked reggae music, but didn't develop an 'obsession' until my Dad bought "The Reggae Rocks - The Tide Is High: A Tribute To Rock 'N' Roll" in Summer of 2001. From there it continued to grow and finally settled a little until I got into Bob Marley & the Wailers in Spring of 2002 and now own 20 albums and compilations by this legendary band.
While this wasn't my first Bob Marley & the Wailers CD, I didn't have many of the songs at the time, so I purchased it and I was blown away. This CD is amazing and is the ultimate introduction to Bob Marley & the Wailers and reggae music in general. The CD meets the needs of the hardcore fan wanting a classic Marley compilation while at the same time delivering many of the greatest hits for the casual listener. While there are a select few hits not present such as "Lively Up Yourself," that hardly matters here. Enjoy Legend for what it is: a testament to the legacy and standard set by the greatest reggae band of all time.
Free Music Review: Bob Marley...The King!! Hit: 5 Stars
Easily one of the greatest albums ever released. Bob Marley alone, transcended modern day music as we know it, and his music touched millions. Before him, reggae was but a small music, that was listened to by it's native people of Jamaica. However, after Bob Marley, reggae is know well-renowned the world over. These songs are so powerful, and this man's versitility is unmatched. His song "Redemption Song" may be the greatest song ever written;"Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery none but ourselves can free our minds.. have no fear for atomic energy cause none of dem' canno' stoppa de time" His voice is so beautiful, and his lyrics are clear..unlike many reggae artists. Bob Marley was a 20th century living revolutionary, and many in Jamaica perceived him as a martyr. If you haven't listened to this album yet...I highly recommend it, because it's the "Greatest" reggae album ever!!
