Free Music Notes for Button-Down Mind of Bob NewhartFree Music Review: Still funny after all these years Hit: 4 StarsI bought this for a friend who is writing a skit for our high school reunion. We graduated in the 60's when this album was popular. Some of us had portions memorized. I still remember the incredible driving lesson with Mrs. Webb. Bob Newhart's comedy didn't need politics or blue humor. His self-deprecating hesitation captured all the personal angst that just coping with life presented. It's a pure delight.
Free Music Review: Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart Hit: 4 StarsI loved this CD of Bob Newhart doing some of his funniest routines. (It contained the one I wanted specifically, which is the imaginary phone call with Abner Doubleday, creator of baseball -- I have written a book in which I refer to this routine, and have dedicated the book to Bob, as well.) However, some of the best routines that I remember from the Ed Sullivan Show and others -- such as the school for bus drivers -- are not on this one. I would like to know if there is a CD on which this and some of his other famous routines are included?
Free Music Review: Newhart is a genius Hit: 5 StarsAnd this is his masterpiece. Still as funny as when I first heard it as a little kid in the early 70s. The Abe Lincoln bit alone is Smithsonian-quality stuff, and says more about this country, good and bad, than most history books ever will.
Newhart is also so politically correct and dry that anyone will like this, from way left to way right. Bob is the kind of guy who can make fun of you to your face and make you crack up, and then love him for it.
That's genius.
If you like his tv shows, you'll love this.
Definitely one of the top ten stand-up albums ever.
Free Music Review: Great replacement of original album Hit: 5 StarsI think my title says it all! Loved Bob back when he began and still love him and his routines today.
Free Music Review: Bob Newhart's Comical Mind Hit: 5 StarsI still enjoy Bob Newhart..whether on reruns of his two outstanding tv series or in any comedy special where he is featured.
The Driving School and Abe Lincoln..I remember him doing those classic sketches on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show. Its simple..Bob Newhart is the best comedian/satirist since Mark Twain.
