Free Music Notes for Bob Seger - Greatest Hits

Free Music Review: Some classic rock we all know and love..
Hit: 3 Stars

This is one of those CD's that has many songs you hear on classic rock radio stations but you might not have realized who sang them. Bob Seger's music is straight from blue collar middle America a la John Mellancamp. His songs are catchy and simple and this CD is a pretty complete collection of his best stuff (Beautifull Loser is the most notable exception.) Even the most casual music fan will recognize Old Time Rock and Roll from various media outlets. Also well known is the slower and kind of boring Like A Rock, which for good reason hasn't seen as much radio play as other songs on this disc. I think the underated gem is the touching ballad titled We've Got Tonight. This song I first remeber seeing on a particularly excellent episode of The Wonder Years, a show notorious for using great music.

This is an uneven album as some of the songs aren't very imaginitve and somewhat repetetive.

Bottom Line: A decent compilation album. Casual fans of Seger can pick this up cheap and have the essentials. Hardcore fans will probably avoid this.

Free Music Review: Very Catchy
Hit: 4 Stars

I am a person who will here a song so many times on the radio and be so blunt, i don't even realize the bands name.Well i didn't know of Bob Segar(and the Silver Bullet band) directly, but every one has herd "Old Time Rock & Roll".Well i'm glad i picked up the name of this band.As the songs grow on me ,and hopefully the people who purchase this greatist hits album.

Very catchy and doesn't require some heavy guitar, that is wildly over distorted to sound good.As it is just that good. For all those people who say greatist hits should hold more songs, well be happy to have these amazing songs like "Turn The Page".

I think of greatist hits as a good filler in on new fans who should like it enough to go buy other albums and this will show.Fourteen tracks is deffinetly good.Since bigger fans will name songs that aren't as big,but are just as good and assume they'd make it on the compilation.

To sum it up i honestly don't know all too much of this band, but im getting a good feeling between their soft pop songs and very melodic piano that i'll be yearning for more.I hope this could help new fans and whoever else looking at this.

Free Music Review: TARNISHED SILVER BULLETS
Hit: 3 Stars

For many years, since no official "best of" from the Detroit soul rocker was forthcoming, his live album NINE TONIGHT served as an excellent summary of his peak performances. You know what? It's STILL a superior sampler, with more smart choices and nary a dud from his post mid-80's output in sight. While many of the vital Seger statistics (that anthem to young lust NIGHT MOVES, that Tom Cruise career starter OLD TIME ROCK & ROLL, that ode to the road TURN THE PAGE) make the cut here, so do several icky-schlocky underwhelmers (that Chevy Truck ad...'nuff said). Nearly forgotten hits in the Silver Bullet Band songbook (the decent Rodney Crowell composition SHAME ON THE MOON, the not so decent disco wannabe SHAKEDOWN) are forsaken for the likes of a pedestrian cover of Chuck Berry's C'EST LA VIE (YOU NEVER CAN TELL). Bona fide classics from the raw and hungry early days, namely KATMANDU, RAMBLIN' GAMBLIN' MAN, and the James Brown dead ringer LUCIFER are criminally ignored. A cool cat like SEGER, with a list of hits as long as your Levi's, deserves a damn site better than what's served up here. Until he gets it, I guess I'll stick with my NIGHT MOVES and STRANGER IN TOWN discs. RATING: THREE O.P.'S

Free Music Review: Classic Seger
Hit: 5 Stars

I have always been a Bob Seger fan and the inclusion of this CD in my collection is very rewarding. The appreciation must be in the blood because my one year old grandaughter absolutely LOVES the Ces't LaVie cut and will stop whatever she is doing and start gyrating her hands to the music!!

Free Music Review: bad!!!
Hit: 1 Stars

I was just listening to this. Oh my god, this is awful!! Bob
Seger & the Silver bullet band is one of the worst rock bands
ever!!! The only good song ever is Fire Down Below from the
Night Moves CD. I don't know, this could be better though he
shure raises his voice a lot!! Try Against the Wind.
