Upon hearing Bobby's DREAM LOVER when I was a child - about a decade after its heyday - I became awestruck and spellbound with his vocal talents. This guy had an incredibly smooth voice which easily and successfully wrapped itself warmly around lyrics from any genre of music! He possessed more R&B soul in his voice than even the grittiest blue-eyed soulsters, save the teen Alex Chilton of the Box Tops. BOBBY DARIN is the male equivalent of LINDA RONSTADT in raw talent, vocal ability/expertise and musical diversity alone. If Sinatra felt uneasy(as has been reported) about Darin's presence, he had every reason to be - Darin covered much more musical ground in one fourth the time Sinatra's music remained "middle of the road" over his sixty year career.Free Music Review: More Talented and Versatile then Elvis and Sinatra combined!

If you're new to Bobby Darin, as I was just a year ago, this CD is the perfect introduction to his awe-inspiring talent. It demonstrates how he refused to stay confined to one genre of music, as so many of his show business peers did at the time. Whether you are into early rock 'n' roll, swing, jazz, country-western, or folk, this CD has something on it to satisfy everyone, although personally it's hard for me to choose my favorite. I just wish that he had scored more hit singles after 1967, which is when he started to dabble heavily in folk and late 60s socially conscious rock and roll. Bobby Darin was a genius, and this CD never fails to perk my spirits up. Thank you Mr. Darin and God bless you. May your music never stop playing!Free Music Review: Best Introduction to Bobby Darin

20 hit songs and a very reasonable list price, ya gotta love it. If Darin had lived we might be thinking of him in the same way we think of Tony Bennett, a terrific interpreter of many different song styles, a willingness to stay in touch with what is new, and -- in Darin's case -- the ability to write a song here and there along the way. Dream Lover, Beyond the Sea, Artificial Flowers, Things, and If I Were a Carpenter are my long-time Darin favorites and, in their variety (pop, light jazz, country/folk, and Sinatra echo) illustrate the range of his talents. A bad bio-pic might have been overkill, but Bobby Darin deserves a high place in a survey of American music from the '50's and '60's.
It's a definite buy.

I think this is a beautiful CD to have. The songs are the versions (as far as I can hear) from the radio. The cover is dazzling with the scarlet red. The story in the liner notes is detailed. The price for such a high quality, brand-new collection is more than reasonable. After seeing it and playing it, I get this feeling that everyone, even if they do not call themselves a fan of Bobby Darin, should put this CD collection on their shelf for an eternal reference to him. (Or for as least for as long as a CD will maintain its integrity.) I bought it for a couple hit singles, and wish I was more open minded to have bought it before I had that myopic idea.Free Music Review: Bobby Darrin Hit Single Collection

This was worth every penny and I would have paid more!!! Sound quality was excellent and MR Darrin certainly knocks the socks of those who have tried to copy his unique style. Forget the pretenders Buble, Cullen et al And Mr Kevin Spacey should stick to Acting. Bobby Darrin was a master of singing able to sing from bubble gum 50s rock and roll, 60s folk, country to Swing. I need to turn up the sound system and have Bobby on continual play!!! If I could rate this an inifinite rating...I would!
