Free Music Notes for The Hit Singles CollectionFree Music Review: TUNES STUCK IN MY HEAD! Hit: 5 Stars
I came across two tunes on this cd that I didn't remember from years past and I kept playing the little blurbs provided here. They stuck in my head and I wanted to hear more, hence the purchase of this great cd. The tunes that nabbed me were "Lovin' You" and "Irresistable You" and the complete version of them was NO disappointment. I just don't tire of them.
What a talent Bobby Darin was and he would love knowing he is still wowing his audience and entertaining us today.
Free Music Review: A Great way to get into Darin Hit: 5 Stars
I've been a huge Bobby Darin fan for many years. I have most of his LPs and this was the first CD that I bought. It has a great mix of his early rock and roll songs along with the classic standars he did. The only thing that's missing is the material he performed in the mid 1960s (ie Simple Song of Freedom, Long Time Movin', Jive...). Other then that this is a great CD for those of you that loved Beyond the Sea. I would suggest this to any one who is new to the Bobby Darin scene.
Free Music Review: They Don't Make'm Like Bobby Anymore Hit: 5 Stars
This boy could sing. What a shame he died so young. He had an impeccable sense of rythym, singing behind the beat. He had great announciation. He had swagger. He was like a Dean Martin-Frank Sinatra composite with even greater appeal to a wider audience. Darin, had he lived longer, might have been the best of the best. It's nice to know that many of today's jazz-pop singers like Michael Buble and Harry Connick admit their debt to Darin. He was one of a kind.
Free Music Review: For four songs Hit: 5 Stars
These are the Darin songs I enjoyed in my college days, 'Mack the Knife' 'Somewhere Beyond the Sea' "If I were a carpenter.' Darin had an upbeat strength in his voice, and a kind of youthful arrogance. Before these he had sung pretty low- grade teen hits. But with these songs he really hit his stride, and created top-notch music.
Unfortunately he died quite young.
Free Music Review: Takes Me Back A Long Way Hit: 5 Stars
Excellent Re-master. You can hear every note, and wonder at Mr. Darin's range. He was a master of all styles and this album just confirms that to any non-Darin fan. The songs take Me and all Baby Boomers on a Magical History Tour of Pop Music in the 50's and 60's. This talented entertainer was taken from us much too soon. You won't be sorry to have this one in your collection!
