Wow! As the rap group Audio Two once proclaimed "what more can i say?"
Where do i begin? "Special Occasion" is THAT cd! By listening to it, you can tell it's geared toward the women (ahhhh). I didn't know what to expect by listening to this cd, but, trust me--YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!
Being myself a grown woman, i thought this album/cd was going to be geared toward the "youngens," feel me? Ha! Bobby Valentino shocked my behind....."Special Occasion" is that cd geared toward the adult & sexy (the term grown is way overused now--call it what it is: ADULT).
Special Occasion has the club songs ("Checkin' For Me, and the bouncy, infectious "Anonymous"), but, this young brother has those "begging" songs, ladies--the kind that would give any keith Sweat song a run for it's money:
"I Was Wrong" (self-explanatory)
and my ULTIMATE..."Home is Where You Belong" (uhhhhhh.....is this song the s--- or WHAT?????!!!)

"Soon As i Get Home" (this is his take on the Babyface classic...while i cannot claim Bobby V made it his "own," he does a nice job nonetheless).

"Turn the Page" (A GEM....LYRICS? BEAUTIFUL...COULDN'T GET INTO THE MUSIC VIDEO FOR THIS ONE, BUT, A GEM OF A SLOW JAME NONETHELESS).
"Let Him Go (f/Fabolous)" (I ADVOCATE THE PLAYING OF THIS SONG ON RADIO....IT SPEAKS TO A FEMALE ABOUT LEAVING AN NO-GOOD DUDE & AN NON-HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP....THIS SONG SPEAKS VOLUMES....LET THE BAD GO, LADIES....GET WITH THE GOOD....GET WITH THE "RIGHT" GUY, YA HEARD?)
"ONLY Human" (that's what's up.....this one is in the realm of "Only Human" by Jefferey Osbourne or "Teachme" by MusiqSoulchild)
"Can't Wait Till Later" (ahhhhhh.....the sex song on "Special Occasion," but unlike what one may think, this is a classy, romantic sex song....not all graphic and explicit like other r&b male singers--u know who they are!)
So, there you have it, folks....."Special Occasion" is one for the cd collection in the crib, the one for the whip, all that. Why radio with their Quiet Storm format isn't showing this album/cd ANY love is really beyond me--WORD UP!!!!!

There is an excellent advantage to owning a Bobby Valentino disc and it is this: no matter how many other discs you've shuffled it with, you will never get confused as to who it is you're listening to, because Bobby V.--V. Tino, if you will--name-checks himself consistently throughout every track. Special Occasion is no exception, but it also earns its keep by way of solid, sexed-up R&B. When the limber-voiced ladies' man isn't strutting his stuff à la the dancefloor-ready "Checking for Me," a full-on stomper about a lady who likes to pretend she doesn't have an eye out for Bobby V., he's pleading his case to a lover in dire need of reassurance ("Turn The Page," "Home is Where You Belong," "Soon As I Get Home"). What binds these tracks is a hard-bitten refusal to skimp on the passion; no matter how quick the tempo or quirky the beat ("Tired of Being Alone" is especially exotic), Valentino delivers with all the fire he can muster.
